RFE after two years.

Hey all,

We used to lurk around this forum all the time in the year 2006. Our case went to the black hole of background check (confirmed by Senators and Congressmen)... and now, over two years after filing, we see some activity in our case: touches and emails stating:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

On June 6, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address.

And,

As of today, 13th June, 2008 - we have not received the RFE and are very concerned what it could be about. For those of you who've been here longer, since we filed so long ago, we used the old forms, which didn't include the IMBRA clause. Since we got the I-129 F email first, we thought this could be the IMBRA rfe, but now that we have an email stating RFE on the way for I-130, we are lost.

Any ideas?

it probably takes a week or two (from what I read before in other topics) to get the RFE.. if after a week, then keep calling them don't worry, it seems to at least be moving.. a lot better than where I am at..

It can take a couple of weeks for you to receive the actual RFE.

Hopefully it means that your approval is around the corner.

yes, at least they are looking at your case.. and make sure they KEEP LOOKING at it.. it seems once they stop, it's hard for them to continue..

Most people find that RFE's lead to good things. I haven't seen many issued that haven't been the beginning of the end. They usually take a few weeks to get to you and once you return them USCIS have 60 days to process it ... although in the majority of cases they don't take that long. It may be a request for further evidence or even something as silly as more recent photographs. Don't panic about it until you know what they are, trying to second guess USCIS will get you no where.
