DS-230 - When to send in documentation.

Hi lovely people of VJ,

I have posted this question previously, but have yet to find an answer. Here's what's going on:

I am filing an I-130 within the USA for my husband who lives in Germany. We are waiting on the IV Bill to pay it online and from there, print the DS-230 coversheet. With that, I have an important question to ask regarding the supporting documentation for the DS-230.

I am already aware of the documentation that needs to be collected; however, I am unsure of whether these documents need to be sent out with the DS-230 itself, or do I wait to submit them until the interview? I have read on the Frankfurt/US consulate website that these papers need to be kept with me until the interview and then I will submit a checklist (DS-2001) along with the DS-230. I am not sure if that is meant for DCF or for people that filed with the NVC. Does anyone know the answer? Do I send the police certificate, birth certificate, etc. with the DS-230, or do I just send the DS-230 alone? I don't want to wait to receive the packet from the NVC (no one seems to be waiting for that since the online payment option). So, if anyone, specially who had their case forwarded to Frankfurt has any information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Just called NVC today and spoke with a really sweet operator. I asked her about the DS-230 documentation and she confirmed that the documents will all be sent into the NVC (the police certificate, passport copy, military records, etc.). I also asked about translations as I have been reading, "Yes, I need to translate them. No, I don't need to... and so on." She said (confirmed what the embassy says), "No, as long as the documents are in the language of the country, then it doesn't matter.'' I just think it's funny because, unless they have a specific person working at the NVC from each country, how are they going to determine that that's a police record, that's his military record and so forth. Hmmm.

i am also getting confused. my husband sent my original divorced paper (in german) police report (in german) and rest docs in english. website says either in english or the local language where the interview will take place. can anyone help me with this?

Related to this, I will be sending the DS-230 and all the documents I can get for the beneficiary (birth certificate, Philippines police clearance, etc.). However, there will also be a Hong Kong CNCC police clearance which the NVC has confirmed Hong Kong should send to the Embassy. So I won't get that and won't be able to send that.

So when I send the DS-230 to the NVC without ALL of the information they are requesting (the Hong Kong certificate will be missing), how do I tell them that it's not included because it's going directly to the Embassy? Should I express this in the cover letter? I don't want the case held up because they're waiting for a certificate that will never arrive there. Or since this must be a common routine for them, when they see Hong Kong on the list of places where the beneficiary has lived, they'll know immediately that it *can't* be included, so I won't have to explain anything?

Just curious how others have handled that issue. Thanks for your thoughts!

I just had them Translated to be on the safe side, because we DON"T want an RFE!

I am just going to translate the documents myself as I am fluent in German. I will give a written statement notarized, but again, the translations are not need. Frankfurt is an appointment post.
