Where do i begin. I left edmonton on may272008 with my daughter at 9am and got to montreal at 3:15pm it was so differnt everything was in french and english was second which was cool. took a cab to the hotal which is cheaper then the airport bus cause its only $35:00 flat rate from the airport and the airport bus does not drop you to the hotel you would hav to walk. We got to the days inn downtown montreal and settled in are room which was very nice we paid about $110:00 a night but it was worth it cause we sleped on a pillow top bed which was nice. I did not speack to my husband that day but he was driving up from albany ny and he didnot leave till about 4:30pm so i had some time on my hand. My daughter and i order food shower and watch some tv by the time i look it was after nine and still no husband. Then the door open and it was him and i was so happy cause i havent seen him since febuary 5 2008. we talk and even took a walk to see if we could find the embassy on are own it was very windy downtown and the streets are so clean. we ask a bus driver where alexsander st was he had no ideal so we look at the street map and founed it on are own and head back to the hotel about a 15 min walk.got back talk and went to bed cause tomorrow was the most important day of are life. woke up at 5:30am and started geting ready asnd left the hotel about 6:20am and got to the embassy at 6:40 and we were the first one there and then another couple can she was from edmonton to and her husband from north carolina so that was nice to me them. So there is a cafe and we all decided to go sit in there because they dont open the doors till 7:30am and we both had kid and it was too cold for them to wait out side. We ate breaskfast and the keep cheeking to see if there was a line up, but there was none. Then another couple and a lady came and they where also there for an interview, and we all were just talking about what a journy this has been and that we are now here. At 7:25am we mad are back to the door where the officer was opening the door, and he told us to stand in a single line and have are letters ready. I let the lady from edmonton go first cause se had a 1yr old boy and the we where next. We went thru security and the gave us a number and let us wait in a waiting area till a officer will then take us to the 19 floor where we go to window #9. At window #9 they ask for you letter and the number they gave you and then tell you to sit in the waiting room till your name is called, there were about 60 emty seats and only 6 were filled. About 10mins later my name was call and we had to go to window #9 and that is when they ask for 2 picture and to look over the ds230 and the expresspost envelope and make sure the spelling of are names were correct and then the officer told us to sit down and when my name is called again only i should go up to window #89 to be finger printed and the the officer who wwas a man said we are going to get this all done real fast so we culd be on are way. So 15min latter i was called and the took my finger prints and i was seated again. The other lady from edmonton had her interiew and came out in tears of joy that i stated to cry cause i was so happy for her. She told me she was approved and that they had to get a expresspost envelope cause they forgot one, (So make sure you have one) and they ask here a few ? about how they meet and how long there where married for and that was it. About 20 mins later my name was call to room #8 at this time the room was full so get there early. We went to room #8 and there was a man behind the glass window and he ask us how are moring was going and then ask us to raise are right had and to make sure everything we were about to talk about was the truth he was laughing cause my daughter even raised her hand. He asked us how we meet and when we meet i told him on yahoo in sept 2005 and meet in november 23 2005 . H ask us how long and when did we get married, I told him november 23 2006 and been married for almost two year and told my husband always remeber that date and he started to laugh. He ask my husband where he work and my hs band told him he started a new job in november and the old job he left in december and he said you took a pay cut and my husband said but he gets more hrs and that his father co sign and that we are going to be living with them and then the man ask him what his father did and my husband told him he is a teacher and a coach and the man said i dont see and problem with you guys finacally so he signed of on that. He ask me what i did for a living and he said wow you work alot i said yes sir. He told that my medical was fine and to sign some paper then on to olivia he ask if my husband has heath insurance for olivia cause that was there biges concern and my husband said yes and she also has some under his parents he look at olivia mendical and the doctor didnot fill out here form right and that he was going to aprove eveyrthing but they have to call calgary to talk to thet doctor so he said that its pending but it approved so i sign for olivia and he said that they were going to call the doctor and i ask him if we have to wait he said no if there is a problem they will call in the after noon but if we dont here from them the everything is fine and that i sould get everthing back within 2 week and we thank him and he said that olivia is very lucky t have too parent like us to raise her and take care of her(olivia is handicap) and that good luck on your trip in june and that was that i was soo happy We said are good bye and we were on are way back to the hotel, went shopping that day and left thursday afternoon back to edmonton and my husband back to albany ny to get ready for are move june 23 2008. Over all it was good and i can only prey that you have the same!

glad it went well!! But I caught a bus http://205.237.20.56/eng/horaire.htm and it was $22 (at the time, now $24) ROUND trip from airport to the train station, then one caught a free shuttle from the train station to many of the downtown hotels! just info for others. Congrats

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

That is fantastic! So you are from Canada? So are both people required to be there or is that just something that was a big plus? The interview will have to be in Montreal also. My husband lives south of there. He and I are expecting a baby in 11 weeks and I am not sure how everything will play out. I wish I could be in Montreal RIGHT NOW or that he was here. It is so hard to be separated. It seems like you understand how that is though. You hadn't seen him since Feb. I haven't seen my hubby since March 29, 2008 and it's really, really hard. I am amazed at how many people are on this forum. It is sooo nice to know I am not alone. I just wish there was some way to speed up the process. It seems like people all the time are like, "Well, you're married, why are things so complicated for you?" Anyways... congrats!!!:dance::thumbs:

For Canadians, both people of the relationship, DO NOT have to be at the interview, always nice for support, but not required
