Hi flomagy,

I was traveling with Spirit Airlines, my first and last time with them.

First when I arrived at the airport, I have been told I can have one laguage, not heavy more then 50pounds/23kg and I payed $20. My question was "what if I have two laguages?", they told me I should condence two in one again not to be overweight with kg or to leave one of them...very inconvenient. You have right on one carry on bag and personal bag.

We left on time from Washington DC,May 24th at 5pm, time to land in Ft. Lauderdale was 7:15pm, BUT, because the weather condition we were making circles(LOL, its funny to me now but I was so mad at that time) and waiting for weather to get better so we can land. NO, at 8pm we land in Ft.Meyers (on the other side of FL), we fly from there at 9:30pm, actually that time was scheduled for my flight to Peru, anyway we land in Ft. Lauderdale at 10:15pm. At the airport I have been told that flight to Peru was canceled and same thing happend night before, the customer service lady said can not made reservation for 25th(next day) but for 26th (day after)cause nothing is available, I GOT SOOOOOOOOO MAD, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I was crying and was so sad cause my first anniversary was on 25th and I knew I will not make it. :( They give us free accomodation in the Hotel Renaissance, food, taxi. By the way my laguage was missing...but they found it later on. Anyway...

The BEST thing that night was the Hotel Renaissance, accomodation was #1. Next day I went to the airport and I got reservation for 5:15pm and they gave me seat 1st row seat number A, LOL, consider as business class(Big Front Seat). Oh I have to let you know that for all food that you want to eat in a plane you have to pay, no hot meal, no nothing, some snacks that cost from $3-$6, cup of coffee $3, bottle of water $3... its not worthed believe me. OK, so instead of 5:15pm we left FL at 6:30pm and land to Peru after midnight some time on 26th. What a shame.

On my way back, we were on time from Lima, but instead of flying at 1:34pm from FL to Washington DC, we left at 6:30pm cause there was some problem with navigation system. It was so NOT good experience. I have been flying with so many avio companies and never ever had such a BIG delays like with Spirit, this was my first and last time with them.

It doesnt mean that you will have to pay cheaper for the ticket, I spent lot of money for laguage-two ways $40/$20 each way(and in Peru they didnt gave me a receipt giving me excuse the computer can not print at this moment, so the guy put the money in his pocket), food, water at the airport while waiting. One sendwich is not less then $7 + drink +something else, and also you are not allowed to take drink with you inside the airport. It was so BAD experience, never again Spirit.

if you want you can contact VJ member Martin, he has a sister who workd in travel agency so you can try with her, also you have to know that each day you will delay buying your ticket will increase the price, closer to traveling dat, expensive will be the ticket.

Wish you GOOD LUCK with your interview and avio tickets!

Contact me if you have any other question.

Dani

Sorry forgot to give you a link www.spiritair.com

I know Delta and American Airlines are more expensive then Spirit, but I would suggest them. My husband is coming with Continental Airlines I would not know how they are, we will see after June 21st.

www.continentalairlines.com

I just checked the prices and they are not too bad comparing with cheaptickets.com, travelocity.com...

It might be bit cheaper if you go directly on avio companies web sites.
