Timeline
This is yet another example of incorrectly using the RFE trick. If your last updated date on the Case Status Online hasn't changed, there is no point in calling and trying this. It is not suprising to me that the service centers are now catching on to this as kitty loves moudi stated that VSC now knows about it. When not used correctly, the rfe trick does more harm than good.

The below quote was meant for this response, not the for Hohoho.

You may be right but people are doing this because they are desperate. I know how that feels, i am in teh same boat. It took 2 and a half years for my citizenship to clear because of a name check backlog, now i am stuck again. You cannot understand how it feels until you are in the same boat. Your paperwork is stuck and not being processed and your husband, wife, child, parent, whatever is apart from you. I dont' need to look at your timeline to figure out that you are not in the same boat as us who have been waiting for a long time. I know that i wont be trying this trick again but i can surely understand why people would continue doing it.

Did you stress the fact that the 6 months deadline is up and that still nothing has happened. To explain: USCIS says that they will do everything possible in order to get cases approved within 6 months. And even though there is all this back up emphasizing this did help my hubby and I when our 6 months deadline was up in February. We called on the day of the 6 months deadline and just kept on pressing that matter. BUT we were very polite about it while still being persistent that the regulations still apply and that we were very surprised what was going on. About 2 days later we had a touch and about another 2 days later we were approved. But there are no guarantees. And especially we did file after the date that USCIS still has posted on their website.

I think the PRE 8/1 world and post 8/1/07 world are 180 degree differences.

They've abandoned that timeline. The don't look into your case and they are more unwilling to even speak to you.

I mistakenly quoted under your comment. The above quote was not meant for you. My apologies. It was actually meant for ERESH.

But her husband is here now. I was simply trying to say that it's easy for people to say don't do it if their loved ones are not here. I wasn't trying to be rude to anyone.

I was trying to tell you to not do it because the instructions have to be followed exactly. The RFE trick is not really even a trick anyways. When people started to use it, it was a way to find out if their case had been approved after seeing the last updated date had changed on the USCIS website. Now it seems that it is being incorrectly used all the time for whatever reason and now the Service Centers are catching on to it. This may cause the RFE line to be shut down which would not be fair to those people who really have an RFE. Up until a couple months ago, I was all for using the RFE trick, but anymore after seeing the way it is being mis-used, I won't recommend it to anyone anymore.
