My husband and I filed my I-130 in March and are awaiting approval so that I can pursue an immigrant visa. We did not file an I-129F, but does anyone know if the processing time for a K3 visa (Canada) would be any quicker at this point? I just want to get home as soon as possible!

Timeline

K-3 tends to be 2 months or so faster for Canada, compare timelines.

However, K-3 is NOT work authorized, CR-1 IS. K-3 has to wait up to 90 days for EAD inorder to take a job.

K-3 also has the added cost of adjustment of status $1010.

So considering this and the possible speed advantage of the K-3 can cost you a lot in added costs for AOS, and not being able to work.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

For me the process seems to be going much quicker with K3 and going thru the Vancouver Consulate...already had the interview date by the time the NVC mailed us anything having to do with the CR1 process! You have to account for the extra work thru the NVC as well as the waiting time at the Montreal Consulate. The time waiting for the K3 or CR1 interview at Montreal may be the same, can't see it being any different for any visa...you would have to factor in the time the NVC takes. If you're out east anyways, I would go with the CR1...we didn't go that route due to the waiting time at the Montreal Consulate. If you need more info, go to the Canadian Forum and check out what others timelines say....feel free to PM me too...good luck!
