I got my SSN card today

I received my ssn card today,, it was dated May 20, 2008

I thought it was like SSN in PI that looks like credit card with pic... :) here it's just a thin paper & not laminated.. but it's ok, not a big deal :devil:

tomorrow I will get my State Id also..

Unfortunately, my wife is waiting for her EAD to get the SSN, to get the State ID, and to get a fishing license.

ohhh.... sorry, but I wonder why? it depends on the state? she applied AOS already?

fishing license?? wow they need EAD/greencard also for that? so strict...

ahhaha ok,,, coz it says also: DO NOT LAMINATE.... :D i wonder why?

Coz even though it's thin and looks cheap, its actually a special paper that is hard to fake. So if you laminate it, authorities wont be able to tell if your card is real. This reasoning is from the old days. Of course now, authorities would be able to tell if its fake by just the number. Its all centralized now.

K-3's have to wait til have EAD or green card to apply for SSN. just the way the law is...... it's nice that you received your SSN :thumbs:

08.05.2010 - Biometrics done! (had to re-schedule from 7/26 to 8/5)

08.13.2010 - Got my interview letter

08.20.2010 - EAD card on production

09.06.2010 - Got my EAD Card (62 days)

09.07.2010 - Applied for SSN

thats good to hear... also, dont carry it w/ you and try to put it on a safe place... identity theft is rampant in the US... dont share your ssn right away to anyone whom you think is not legit or w/ out a valid reason why they want to have your ssn... esp online... lol... well, go go go primie... enjoy the life!!!
