Hi cmnb,

Just saw your post. Thought I should write and help you out.

1. Petition is sent to USCIS

- USCIS Sends Notice of Action or NOA1 to the petitioner

- Then USCIS sends Notice of Approval or NOA2 to the petitioner

2. USCIS sends the case to NVC or National Visa Center

----NVC assigns a case number

----Sends information to the Petitioner

----then the whole NVC process takes place

3. After bills are paid, forms are sent to NVC and they declare the case is complete Then the case is forwarded to the Embassy or consulate.

Consulate gives an interview date and sends information about what documents should be brought at the time of the interview and also gives information about the Medical that is mandatory.

Then the interview takes place and by that time the beneficiary will know what is happening to the case.

Don't panic. By the time all these stages will come, you'd be ready

thanks so much for sharing the process. it makes much better sense now. in #3 you mentioned that bills need to be paid. do i need to pay any other bills or fee?

There are two bills at NVC...one is of Affidavit of Support or AOS fee bill which is paid by the Petitioner and an Immigrant Visa or IV fee bill which is to be paid by the beneficiary. If your wife chooses you as her Agent then you can easily pay both bills online. At the Embassy I think the only bill need to be paid is of the courier service that will deliver the passport back to your wife's city. This is how its done here. Maybe its the same for India too.

You need to relax as It'll all come to you naturally once there.

huh? where are you getting that?

i'm bone tired. just want to sleep, but all these k3 approvals won't let me sleep! darn you! after hearing all the recent approvals, now my husband wants to file the k3. we so change our mind a lot! do you all think that if we file for k3 now that it is too late?

my concern is that what if we file for the k3 then all of a sudden the CR1 filers started moving along.. but then we get stuck with K3.. i need to stop thinking too much. i'm confusing myself!

well i was just checking the timeline for VSC on the USCIS website. They are processing July 30, 2007 application right now. Also they are processing November I-129F applications for k3/k4 applicants. That means currently the USCIS has a wait of 10 months on the I-130 (+3-4 months for NVC and embassy processing) and they have a 6 months on K3 (+3-4 months for NVC and embassy processing) approval.

Since I have just filed the i-130 application and waiting for NOA1, i am seriously thinking of gathering all the paperwork to switch to the K-3 option and send the application the next day after i get NOA1. lol...but thoughts change every minute so lets see....

oh by the way...if you guys want to check the timeline, here is the link:

to file or not to file, that is the question.

now I wanna throw up.

i don't look at the CSC or VSC processing times simply because they do not match up. I look at the timelines here as to where which month petitions are being approved. my I-129F is all ready to be mailed. I just need to make a trip to the post office.. HOWEVER.. oh however what??

the 3 most recent approvals that filed in April is giving me hope/false assurance.. maybe CSC is just playing with us.. but then maybe they are not. :bonk::help:

i guess the point to consider is...the percentage of people approved and also what embassy/consulate they are petitioning to. we have seen in all these cases that they are from Brazil. so i personally feel that these approvals have something to do with Brazil applicants (nothing wrong with that). so since it is a small number....sorry folks not trying to make your decision harder..just trying to put the facts forth..
