When I got here I got my SSN with maiden name, next that I got married I went to the SSN office to change it for married name. I showed my marriage certificate and there wasn't problem. But I come here with K1 visa and I didn't have the resident card when I went to the office.

Maybe the problem is that her resident card have a maiden name too, isn't it?

same here... i applied for an ssn in my maiden name and when i got my GC, its already in my married name... it doesnt matter if you change it right away or not (as long as the ssn can be identified and registered in the GC or driver's license)... got no time changing my ssn but i know, i will change it somehow but not sure when though lol...

vbtmrt, im sorry but its hard for me to understand your situation, is it your wife's GC that has the maiden name??? and that her ssn in her married name??? opposite per se... in that case you can change the GC but w/ fees... she can wait for 2 yrs if she wants to change it by the time she wants to lift the condition to save some extra... some happened that way and went just fine... hope it will clear up on you guys  ... anyways they will snychronize the snn# to any docs anyways like GC or drivers license... i had a hard time dealing w/ the DMV before, but in any case just have to present the marriage license and other ID's when getting some DL... good luck and God bless!!!
