You have to file a K-3 if you are married, no way to get around it. If you are married and filed a K-1 you will have to cancel that petition and refile a K-3 and/or CR/IR1.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

:time: .... so we can help you better.

Jackie

we have had vj members file k1..then marry and refile the correct petition. The K1 is now void if you married. Start over and get in the back of the line.

And you have to make sure you withdraw it properly with both uscis and the consulate

Salaam Clatita,

Did you get married legally and register with the Moroccan government, or did you just have an Islamic ceremony at home? If you did not marry legally with the government than you can continue with your K1...

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

If you re married islamically only and not legally then you re ok and u can continue with the k-1 and becoz the embassy only recognizes legal marraiges 'metsagel fel shahr al 3aqary ya3ni'....

I don't know what shanigans Egyptians are pulling lately with this "married in the eyes of God" stuff, but it's clear that the OP's family want them to be properly married, not pretend married. They can't live together with a K1.

I'll PM you, clatita. We can talk in Moroccan and get you some help before the interview. Good for you for wanting to do the right thing.

I'm not sure what all this means but it would be interesting to know. I'm not Muslim by the way so Islamically married vs legally married is way over my head. On the other hand do I really need to know?

Life is so strange but it sure keeps you on your toes!!!
