My fiances parents will be the co-sponsors for the K1.

Will it matter if they get it notarised and dated now? As we havent even had our NO1 yet, im worried it may be a little to early. Reason is that they are heading out of the country for the summer and wont be back in the US for a while.

Also there is a question in the affadavit asking what is your relationship to the beneficiary? There not sure what to put down as i aint married to there daughter yet.

Thanks

It's said the closer the better but theres nothing you can do if they're gone when you need it so i guess its best to get it now? I'm not sure what to tell ya there but as for the beneficiary question.. my dad was our co-sponsor and he put future son-in-law in the relationship spot and London had no problem with that

Yes that is a bit early, you need an I-134 dated close to the time of visa interview, it is best to do this after NOA2.

"Future in-laws" or "In-laws to be"

They can get it notarized at any US-Consulate or Embassy.

if you havent even gotten your noa1 yet then you probably arent going to get the noa2 during the summer, maybe after dpeending on where you filed, so dont worry you still got time.

They filed in vermont so it's very likely they will receive their approval in the summer. Also, Scotland is pretty fast so they're probably looking at an interview sometime around the time the in-laws come home.

Probably still not wise to get it 'this' early as the consulate will most likely want it dated closer to the interview date. Maybe if you get your approval while they are still away you can have them take care of what they need to wherever they are and send it to you?

Cheers for that everyone. I will get Lara to talk to her parents. See what the best scenario is.

I think you'll find there are US Consulates in all but the most obscure nations of the Earth. On the other hand, if the interview is actually in August, this isn't all that far in advance. I wouldn't count things happening that fast though.

That is the point I was trying to make, the parents can visit a US consulate while abroad and get the I-134 notarized and then send it to the beneficiary for interview.
