I see plenty of info on time lines and when folks got the relevant part of the K1 But this is aimed at those that have done it. Ie are now over in the US. How long was it between arrival and being allowed to work, Or arrival and getting a job (should you not already have one lined up or in the process of being sorted out.).

The Company I work for is glabal with serveral offices around the US I am currently in talks with the management to transfer to the US on a perm basis as I am getting married. So the job isnt really a problem, It has been a topic of conversation between BMJ and Myself & who better to ask really... than all of you.

It is sometimes possible to get a temporary work permit when you enter the US if you fly through JFK. This work permit would allow you to work for 90 days. If you do or do not get this permit the next steps are the same.

Step 1. Get married.

Step 2. Apply for AOS, EAD, AP.

The EAD will allow you to work before you AOS process is complete. It seems to be taking around 90 days to get the EAD so if you do get the temporary work permit at JFK it is important that you get married as soon as possible so that you don't have a gap where you are not eligible to work. If you do not get a temporary work permit you can expect to be unable to work until your EAD arrives.

There is a guide similar to the K1 regarding AOS process. Take a look at those to get more info.
