Fiance Visa / Attorneys

Hi everyone :luv:

I just wanted to let you know that it is a bad idea to hire holmes&lolly immigration attorneys.

If you search web sites with "fiance visa," their web site comes up on top and you might think that they are trustable and professional. BUT, it's not a good idea to even call or e-mail them.

I used their service knowing there is cheaper services like usavisasnow for $600. :bonk:

I called and they told me the estimate time of getting a VISA and it was a lie.

I said to my attorney, "what you are telling me is much longer than the first person who guided me to hire you."

And the response was "Well he just said that to speed up the process(of you hiring us.)"

I was surprised to know how they don't care about their job nor us.

They don't answer the phone, don't read e-mails, don't reply, the worst thing is that you expect them to know a lot more than you do, but they don't.

The paralegal guy was asking so many times for the papers I already sent.

I though he is brainless or/and blind.

K1 VISA is not that difficult to do it yourself. I hired them just because my fiance wasn't good at paper works, computers....etc

It actually slows down the process since you have to keep sending and receiving paper works.

I really recommend you to do the process yourself unless you have issues like criminal convictions or illegal stay in the US.

It's alreay hard being away from each other and I want nobody else to experience what happened to me.

Excuse my typos

I hope you have a great life with your loved one

I agree, you're basically hiring someone to do the writing (or typing) of your own personal information into different fields.. which they have to get from you anyways! If you want someone else to write stuff, pay a family member $5! lol ... I done a k-1 visa about 18 months back..to get into the UK.. we done that all on our own and it went perfectly fine.. we're now (to get back into the US) going through getting my husband a visa to the US and we're doing it on our own and we've had absolutely nothing but smooth sailing... SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! Especially if you're on this site. Who needs to spend the money on a pointless service when you have plenty of helpful people on this site to help you free of charge!

FYI - I'm American so all dates will be Month/Day/Year. (lol)

---------------------

10/19/03 - Spoke to him for the first time on mic through Yahoo! Pool.

10/26/03 - First 'I Love You' (The date we consider to be when we got together)

07/03/04 - He flew from U.K. to Alabama for a 2 week visit (Proposed)

12/26/04 - He flew again to Alabama for a 3 week visit

05/22/05 - I flew to U.K. for 1 month visit

09/2005 - He visited AL - 3 weeks(Really hard to remember some of the exact dates!

12/15/05 - I visit U.K. - 1 month

04/2006 - He Visits - 3 weeks

07/2006 - I Visit U.K. - 1 month

10/2006 - He Visits 3 weeks

12/28/2006 - I move to the U.K. (on Fiance Visa)

03/10/07 - Married

--------

12/05/07 - Form I-130 recieved by USCIS

02/23/08 - NOA recieved

02/28/08 - DS230 Part 1

02/03/08 - Sent for Police Certificate

From the VJ home page:

"We encourage all members to seek a qualified immigration attorney as this site is no substitute for the valuable help and advice a good attorney can provide!"

You don't find a good attorney by reading advertisements. You find them by word of mouth, and by investigating their credentials.

Havent heard many good lawyers as of yet. I'm sure there are good ones, but they must be few and far between.

Luckily in my case I never saw a need for an attorney. As of now I have only heard horror stories. Not worth paying for one in my opinion, unless your case is very special.

Well, a couple of good ones are around here, just not often.

Read other immigration websites and you'll find them active and invaluable.
