Hi Tammi and everyone else that applied in March 2008:

So, I just got back from Shopping and guess what I found in the mail...

A letter from the INS. I was worried to open it... lol..

My interview is scheduled for July 1st 10:30 am in Boston.. Wow I am in shock.

That was so so fast - I did not expect that at all.

I hope everyone elses gets processed as fast then mine.

Now its time to clean and time to study.. lol

hey what did your first NOA say, expect how many days? mine is 365 and is vermont as well.

My NOA said it would take 365 days..

it says in my letter to bring: An evidence of Selctive Service Registration..Anybody know what that is >

Yeah, if you are a male between the ages of 18-26 you have to register with selective service even though we don't have a selective service, a nicer word for drafting guys into the armed services. I believe this can be done at any US post office.

if you are male and not yet 26 yrs old,you have to register now ASAP online at www.sss.gov

Anja, your profile states you are a female, so you do not have to be concerned with selective service, practically all young men were drafted here starting with WW I and ending with the Viet Nam war in 1973. Selective was a good word in that if you had a rich powerful daddy like Clinton and Bush had, two of our last presidents, and if they sent you to Harvard, you didn't have to go. A more popular to beat the draft was to get married early and have a kid on the way. Over half my senior class guys went this route, ha, if drafted the government would also have to provide a couple of bucks for that guy's wife and kid plus medical benefits. But serving your country, if you didn't get half your limbs blown off or killed resulted in GI benefits and mainly a paid college education.

After serving for six years on active duty, never got that, some BS about all of my records being burnt up. I was one of those nuts that keep every record, the original ones in fact in a large neat folder. Still didn't work, they would not accept the original records, so I got screwed out of all my promised GI benefits. Wasn't very happy. See they are doing the same thing today with the kids coming back from Iraq, but what the heck, we have a draft dodger for president. I worked my way through college anyway, wasn't easy struggling to keep my GPA up there on top with a full time job, and also to have these rich spoiled brat classmates that were laying every gal and partying every night, keep that in mind when voting for a president. A very arrogant lot with little care for their fellow human beings.

I also had a difficult time as a 18 year old kid, my mother had a hatred for guns and instilled a fear in me, had to overcome that, was taught how to kill by our government and had to overcome my fear of guns. It was either kill or be killed, and yes, I had more fear of my commanders than the enemy, it's one of their games.

In 1980 after a seven year rest, congress passed the selective service act where every male between the ages of 18 through 25 had to register. This was kind of dumb in my opinion, my three sons received a post card, we know your name, address, SS number, and your birthday and that you are eligible for selective service, if you do not sign and return this post card, we will fine you $10,000 and put in in jail for a year. This is just a registration process, we do not have that draft anymore, but an all volunteer armed service. But if this war continues, if it is even a war, can expect that draft to come back.

Ha, had to laugh at that question where only our congress can declare war, last war our congress declared was in WWII, that 40 year long cold war with the Soviets was never declared, nor Korea, Berlin Crisis, Cuban Crisis, Viet Nam, Iran hostage, Reagan had a bug for South America, Bush I for the middle east, Clinton for Bosnia, Bush's kid for the middle east again, none of these wars were declared and ironically, history shows that nothing was accomplished by them. I may seem to sound unAmerican, but you have to be there to appreciate what I am saying, when I served, I really didn't care if I lived or died, but had more fear of killing the wrong person where I could end up in prison for the rest of my life and the kind of wars we had since WW II, you can't tell the difference. What a position to put a young kid into. Then our hands were tied behind our backs, but this is what happens when you have draft dodgers running this country. Yes I am a very patriot American, but in older years really question our leadership. It was a living hell when my two younger brothers were drafted, feared for their lives everyday and I know what they were going through.

With all this anti-gun BS, and it is, I taught my younger brothers and sons how to shoot and respect this very dangerous piece of machinery, if called, they should have that advantage of growing up with it. Even took my wife to the shooting range, ha, while she said yes to bear arms for this country, just said if they call her, the enemy would be at our doorstep and we all would be shooting back. Another thing that put a dent in my way of thinking was the huge amount of money our defense contractors were making and most I met were idiots, that isn't right either.

Three years ago out of the clear blue sky, received a letter from the VA, somehow they found my records, classified as a veteran of a foreign war with full benefits, LOL, asked if they would refund my college expenses, no, but benefits will continue from now on.

Our daughter was very interested in joining the national guard, free college and instant USA citizen, not sounding unpatriotic, my neighbor a captain just back from Iraq and I talked her out of it. But her girlfriends that did join were sent to Iraq. This is going way too far in my opinion, sending baby girls that can't even open a jar of pickles to war, I rather go myself, but they say I am too old. Would really love to go if I could follow Bush.

I firmly believe in the Constitution of the United States as one if not the greatest pieces of paper ever written in the history of mankind where our leaders are suppose to be servants of the people. Can only hope an pray that we will get back to that and not leaders that constantly break those very important laws of our land. To deal with the USCIS, have to swallow your pride, and give them a lot more than what they ask for.

3/9/2008- Mailed my N400 packet from Kuwait to Mexquite, Texas

3/31/2008 - Office received

4/10/2008 - Cash Checked (im not sure on the date but it is between the 1st week and 2nd week of April)

4/16/2008 - Received NOA (stating that they will return the excess money by check in 30 days) I included FP Cards done by the US Embassy in Kuwait.

- Interview will be within 365 days

Current status: Pending and in progress...
