the K-3 interview

Hey everybody..... I am so confused:

some days ago i ve got from USA EMBASSY in Moldova all the necessary docs for the interview and there is no word about the I134 form. All the required docs are like: DS-156, DS156K(for wifes), birth certificate, the marriage certificate, the police report and medical exam results . No mention about the I-134 form. IS it normal? Maybe in my country there is no need of showing to the counciler officer the Affidavit of support? WHAT you think guys about that?

All K3 applicants need to show evidence they will not become a public charge. The I-134 and supporting documents is usually the easiest way to accomplish that, so have them with you when you arrive for the interview.

Unlike K1s and K2s, the IV system will not yet accept K3 as a visa class, and so the systems processing takes place exclusively in NIV. K3s must be issued in the country where the marriage took place, unless there is no IV or NIV issuing post in the country, see Ref E, 15-17. Applicants fill out two copies of the DS-156 NIV application form; they are not required to submit the new DS-157 form. Note that neither an I-864 or an I-134 is required; K3 applicants must present the I-864 when they adjust status in the United States with USCIS. SO I THINK THE i-134 IS NOT NECCESARY, OTHERWISE THE EMBASSY WOULD MENTION ABOUT IT.... RIGHT?

You already have the correct answer bolded above with red emphasis added. If you don't bring sufficient documentation to show you won't become a public charge, you'll most likely be denied the visa until you do.

THANK you very much for yuor help, I just see so many contradictions in immigrant laws...... And really get confussed. As sooner is my interview as worst i feel But now i am OK thnanks once again

Anyway, the lady I talked to, told me that for K-3, they do NOT require an I-134 form.

I told her this is odd, since they do demand it for K-1 visas. She said that's what their instructions right now are.

This however differs from Consulate to Consulate though. So why not email your Consulate and ask them (if they really don't require it, it's always best to have that in writing and take the email to the interview - on the phone they can tell you whatever they like).

However, I must say that, nonwithstanding what they told me, I have decided I will take this document to the interview anyway.

It is best to be prepared, just in case they do demand you to show it during the interview.

Right Katt, i think i am gonna do the same thing... i just do not want to be shaking with fear in there, so i wanna have this doc with me just to feel good... At the same time i think it is a kind of their policy to create problems to some couples, YOU KNOW like they do not mention about this I-134 but in fact we really have to present it ---YOU KNOW if someone has some problems during the interview you get the DENIAL and again a great time of waiting.... GOD.........

I ve got the all papers from the USA embassy 2 weeks ago but i was a little bit unlucky cause it was a long term of big holidays here in Moldova... GOD nobody wanna work here.... ha ha aha aha Well Hope soon all will be over..

The public charge issue applies to all finace(e) AND spouse visas. The best practice is to have the necessary documents at the interview rather than risk delay.

I agree. It's definitely the general rule such information is needed.

And even in the exceptional case when the Consulate/Embassy says they do not need it (like in my case, over the phone), i'd take it anyway, in order to not risk any unnecessary waiting.

Rio de Janeiro consulate asks for form I-864 instead of the I-134 for Affidavit of Support

maybe that is the case
