No Biometrics Appointment (Dec. Filer)

I am starting to get worried that something is seriously wrong with my N-400 application that I filed in December 2007. USCIS cashed my check and sent the receipt letter, but I haven't heard anything since (including biometrics). My local office is Seattle and I have recently seen people getting their biometrics complete within 1-2 months of the N-400 application.

I made some enquiries already (in italics below), but some of the things the officers told me, just do not add up against other people going through Seattle. Has anyone else had to wait this long for their biometrics? At what point should I get really concerned? Can I take any action other than the customer service center and info-pass?

Thanks for you help!

Info-Pass Appointment (March 2008):- I setup an info-pass appointment to get my passport stamped because my greencard was close to expiration. At the same time, I also enquired about the N-400 biometrics. The officer told me that my case was on record and no biometrics appointment had been mailed to me. At this point, I blew a sigh of relief because I thought it had been lost in the mail or something.

Customer-Service (April 2008):- After getting a little worried about seeing other filers from the Seattle office get appointments, I decided to phone the customer service center... After getting passed around several times, I got to talk to an immigration officer... She was a pretty interesting character... She said that she was surprised that a lot of processing had been done on my N-400 and that I was probably just waiting for the Seattle office to schedule an interview (not biometrics)...She then told me that given her experience, my case should be approved in 2-4 months regardless of the processing times shown online... She continued to tell me that they wouldn't require biometrics until my old ones expired.. She said they did this to save money!?!? At first, I thought she was talking about my I-751, but I asked her to confirm that she was talking about the N-400... Does any of this seem correct? I know other filers haven't had this experience

I know they have been trying to do this, did you get a biometrics done for something else? Was it digital? If so, they may very well have it on file. The FBI can probably confirm if they did the clearance for your N400.

I did have my biometrics done digitally... It would make sense to reuse them, especially since they had been on record less than 12 months when I made the N-400 application.. I never knew the government could be so efficient?

Do you know where I would go to make an enquiry with the FBI? At what stage of the application do they usually do the cleanance?

Thanks for the response...

I think you will be informed just for interview.

I am in the same boat.. We filed my N400, and found out that no biometrics will be done, it is already been checked,,,,

I guess i have to wait for interview letter....

Isn't Seattle sent to the Nebraska Service Center? Did you have to send 595 bucks for the application with an additional 80 bucks for the finger prints. Biometrics is the statistical study of biological phenomena, kind of a fancy word for photos and finger prints, but this time the 80 bucks did not include getting your picture taken, same price though.

We got our biometrics appointment within ten days after sending in our application, thought that was kind of quick for Nebraska since it took them several eons to process our I-751, but man, are they quick in cashing our checks. Have to make sure I have money in the bank even before I mail the application, check the deposit, check already cashed by the time I get back even before I get home from the post office and that is only five minutes away! Wonder how they do that?

Like watching FBI cases on Discovery Science, FBI can find a criminal with a partial smudged finger print already 75 years old, but gather the ones the USCIS takes are only good for a couple of months as three sets were taken in about three years. 240 bucks! But if you commit a crime, I understand they take them for free.
