You may already have an NOA1. Here's what happened to me...

I sent the I-130 to Chicago on March 19, 2008, but I never received a receipt/NOA1 in the mail. I saw that most people that filed at the same time had received their NOA1 within 1-2 weeks.

Did your check clear? If you can acces a photocopy of your cleared check from your bank, you will see that on the reverse side of the check in the upper left hand corner there is a number starting with three letters and 10 digits (EACXXXXXXXXXX). This should be your receipt number. Try to plug that number into the USCIS online status system. If a case show up, then that is your case. The Service Center will be listed on the notification screen.

If you receive an error, then try the same number, only increase the last digit by one. That's what happened to me. I even called the USCIS customer service to confirm that this was my case. They confirmed it and send me a confirmation letter in the mail, which I'm using as my NOA1 which never arrived to this day.

Hope this helps.

THANK YOU for your information.... I just called to see if the money order I sent had been cleared, but they told me that it still had not cleared... So I guess I just have to keep on waiting. They told me that it may take up to 5 days for them to be able to see that it has cleared.

Thanks again for your info....

I waited a month for my NOA1 and the WAC# on the back of the cancelled check was too blurry for me to make out. They gave me the WAC# over the phone and I had to ask them to "re-send" the NOA1 even though they had never sent it in the first place. I received it 2 days after our I-130 was approved. Then it took another two months to receive the NOA2.
