So there I was diligently filling in forms and paperwork determined to get my fiance from Colombia here to the US...Filled out everything and I thought it was in perfect order...clearly labeled...more than required evidence included...photos, travel docs, itineraries, phone logs, G325's...emails...etc. I spent sooo much time being so damn careful I forgot the check for $455.00!!!

Anyone knows what will happen...will they hold the package and ask for the check, or send everything back to me...Will they reject the application? I tried calling the Vermont office...no help whatsoever.

Also what does the processing times mean for the K1 from the Vermont Processing Center...all I keep seeing is October 18, 2007 what is that supposed to mean...

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Your package will be returned to you. Then you will have to resend it with a check. There will be a letter or something telling you why they returned it.

Processing times are the earliest date that VSC is working on right now.

During one point of this process, I forgot to sign one of the cheques. They sent me back my entire packet with a letter indicating my mistake. I signed the cheque and resent the package. No problems.

Yes, the contact method will be to take their own sweet time about returning the package to you with a note saying the check is missing. If you can reproduce the package and send it again with the check, you'll save a lot of time.

The processing date you are seeing is the oldest applications they are working on. It's a CYA response. Most people have their application processed faster than that. You can look at the timeline search under immigration timelines to see what the VJ statistics show about when people are getting approved.

we had the same thing happen to us. also the check. we called and they said it could take up to 60 days for them to return it (boy, did i freak out). but within a week we had the whole thing back in hand. you get a rejection notice (already has a tracking number) and send it back including the check.

you might think about redoing package, it might be faster, but if you have to receive things from your fiancee abroad it might take just as long.

good luck
