One Year?

I was always under the impression that the K1 process was about 6 months long but I've been looking at the timelines of you guys on this form and it looks like it is a lot closer to one year. Can this be right?

There are a lot of factors that go into how long it takes to get the visa: how long it takes to get the petition approved, transit time between service center and NVC, time it takes for the foreign beneficiary to get documents from the consulate, time to complete medicals/police certificate/etc, time to get an interview scheduled, time to get the visa.

So, it is possible for the whole proces to take over a year.

very true it could take more than a year. I was blissfully ignorant until after his interview last April that things would go smoothly and he would get his visa a few days after the interview. I thank God every day I found this board or I surely would have lost my mind.

It all depends on how fast they approve the petition, you submit the packet 3 or 4 to the embassy, what the embassy's appointment schedule is like, and how long the administrative processing will take.
