Is applying for Green card Lottery considered applying for immigration?

In the DS- 156 (nonimmigrant Visa application ) form the ask if somebody ever filed for immigration in my behalf...I answered no...but when I was married years ago I remember applying for the lottery as a family decision to try our luck. Is it considered an immigration application? what it does show is an immigartion intention on my part? what should I answer there? yes or no? just to be sure I attached a sheet to the form explaining what happened so they wont say I was hidding information or something>? has this happened to you? what did you do?

My two cents. Green card lottery is green card lottery. It has no bearing on your visa application. It is not considered as an immigration application, it's just the lottery.
