we all know that the xray film is quite a nuissance to carry-on due to its size.... some says to carry on during the flight just in case the immigration people asks... some says dont bother...

hmmmm... im battling between the two.. hahaha.. guess its just something to ask while waiting for sleepiness to knock me off... :bonk:

There has been no reports that they actually asked for it and looked at it at the POE, BUT, there's always a first time. I know it's a hassle but you'll never know what's really gonna happen. Others rolled it and then place it in a plastic tube like those engineering students use. You can find one at National Bookstore. It will be easier to carry it if it's rolled. You can even strap the tube in your hand-carry luggage.

Good luck and have a safe trip.

We carried it on. It fit nicely in a cardboard tube, and packed in a duffel that we carried on to the plane.

You're welcome! I wished I found that out too before my flight here. I carried my X-ray film as it is and it is so big, it got in the way. After my POE, I still had one more flight from MN to Springfield. I then have decided that I had enough, slid it on the rope tied around my cardboard box so that I won't be carrying it anymore. It was indeed a hassle but hey, I made it through.

I notice most recommend to hand carry the X-Ray. my wife also put it in her luggage, but packed it so she would have easy access to it if it was asked for by immigration. her POE was SFO and was not asked for the X-Ray. do whatever you feel the most comfortable with..

I was actually asked for my x-ray film at the San Fran Int. Airport. Luckily, as instructed by the SLEC, I hand carried it inside the box where my wedding gown was. I actually rolled half of the gown with it. They just looked at my name on the x-ray envelope and handed it back to me. I guess, I was one of those "unlucky" ones.

Anyhow, it is up to you. Whatever is most convenient for your trip.

As far as I know, you are the first one to report this, sis Myla. So I take back what I said that there are no reports of X-ray film being asked at POE.

Problem with that is not all POE have baggage claim before you see the immigrations officer, Chicago for example has international baggage between immigrations and customs, so checked bags are hard to get to because they are waiting for you after you see the immigrations officer.

thank you for pointing that out  the POE's I've gone thru, you pickup your checked in before going thru immigration. if you don't know the set up at your POE, best to be safe and hand carry the X-Ray.
