I like Matai a lot, Hebrew spelling for Matthew.

Our baby's middle name is Seth, which means appointed or chosen...he was the replacement for the slained Abel in Genesis(patriarch to Noah, Abraham, etc). The reason I picked it was because I had a dream before I was pregnant about having a baby boy named Seth. And then it had a good meaning for us too. When we weren't sure of what middle name to use we went back to that name.

Kavi, our baby's first name, is Hindi(Sanskrit origin) meaning poet. We wanted an Indian name that didn't have a Hindu meaning since we are both Christians. I think it's fun when people pick a name that is not usual, but not too hard to say either. (most people know hopefully but to clarify: Hindi is the national language of India, Hindu is a person who follows Hinduism)

for hebrew boys names i like:

adi

adam

Ariel (Ari'el)

Ethan (Eitan, Eytan)

Gabriel (Gavriel, Gavri'el)

Ilan

Jair (Yair, Ya'ir)

michael

Nathan (Natan)

Nissim (Nisim)

there are probably more i'm forgetting but those are all good imo! :)

A name we considered for our baby was Adi. It also exists as a Hindi name, it means ancient and is like the Hindi version of Adam. Our one other possibility was Yash(means victory/glory)

For girls it changed. Before we were married, Rosa was our top pick for a girl. I just thought it was cute. But then we didn't want it anymore by the time we actually got pregnant. We liked Kavya(girl version of Kavi), Naina, Raina(or rayna), Priya...very feminine names. Would have used Darlene as the middle name(my mom's name and my middle name).

I love Genevieve! It was one of the names I always wanted... but again with the v thing. Sigh. Maybe I need to launch a single-handed campaign to introduce the "v" into Arabic.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I second that opinion. Persian farsi has one, sometimes they borrow the letter from them if they must write out something in arabic from english that has a "V" in it.

Yes they wd use a "faa" and then put 3 dots on top instead of only one  Go ahead julianna and pick whatever u want it will work dont worry lol

Exactly, I agree, if she really wants a name with a "V", she should just borrow the other letter. Most arabs know what it means.

Dalia (I want Dahlia in English, he says no, we'll see.): grapevine (or with the H it would be a flower)

Majdolin: (it's the Arabic of Magdalene/Madoline, etc)

Niran: Fire

Boys:

Noah (he says Nuh. No way will i ever say Nuh.) means rest, comfort

Adam: means man
