I got the HPV on the NHS

Totally forgot to mention this before, but I managed to get the HPV vaccine on the NHS today.

When I called my clinic to see if they could give me the injection, it was just to see if it would be any cheaper than Knightsbridge. I got through to the nurse, and she said that she wasn't sure if the could charge me as a private patient as I am registered as NHS but she would investigate. After a bit of toing and froing she got back to me, and told me that she could issue me an NHS prescription because the vaccine had just been put on to their systems in a way that would allow her to issue me the prescription. I guess they're getting ready to start dishing out the vaccine to 10 year olds.

She was baffled as to the logic behind insisting that people of my age and marital status would be required to have it, but understanding that it's for my visa, gave it to my nonetheless.

I had it done at 6pm today along with the MMR, no side effects to report yet

So, everybody, if you need the HPV, it's worth a try to see if you can get it from you clinic or GP

Oooh - that *is* interesting!! I have to go get MMR so might be worth finding out about HPV again even though I already checked once

It's probably worth calling up the Doctors first and making sure that they will do it. Then check with your local chemist and make sure that they have it in stock. My chemist had to get it in, and I had to reschedule my appointment till after I had the stoopid thing.

Well at least it's a lot more medically appropriate for your daughter! No, none so far.
