Ok, so I guess the same day service thing is something new or my husband just got lucky. His uncle was telling him about it, and I told him to make sure it was legal. Well he asked around and his mother knew someone who works at the Duke Street station and he confirmed that he could get it for a same day service. said something about there was no need that the PC should take so long and they have a new streamlined system.

So I just talked to him and he was there at Duke Street awaiting the PC. He had just applied this morning. He's sending it to me 2 day service so I can send the rest of my paperwork to NVC this week.

God is soooo good!! i have been praying for an expedite in this case and it just seems things are really working out for us. Praise God!!

congrats...I hope everything works out...how much did he have to pay for the same day service if you don't mind me asking???...this is really going fast and I hope I don't get any RFEs for the I-864 and for the Ds230 when I finally submit that...I would like to jump ahead to the interview...what "proofs" are you going to bring with you...I really don't have much except for phone bills, travel tickets, about 40 odd pics including my wedding pics, and I opened a bank account for him but its only in my name but i gave him the debit card and i put money like every two weeks from my check so it can help with grocery and little stuff like that...could i bring that too to show that i'm financially helping him... ...is that enough...

Girl I haven't even thought about "proof". I figure my relationship is just a normal one so I just plan on showing up and winging it for the most part. haha....its the same way I am when it comes to my job and presenting to clients haha. I'll probably bring some photos and hmmmmm......maybe my cell bill....but honestly i dont have anything else to show as "proof", except the way that we are with one another.

Do I need to send both originals of the police certificate to NVC or just one? My husband sent me 2. I know I need a photocopy of one but not sure if I need to send in both originals too.

Thanks, I sent mine in yesterday. They've been turning around case completes at NVC within a 5 working day time so hopefully I have good news soon and can start off that July interview thread.

I really hate the mail system in Jamaica right now...my hubby sent his police record, birth certificate, and copy of his passport to me since last friday but regular mail...he didn't think he needed to send it to me express since at the time we were only in the beginning at NVC but NVC's turnaround was a complete surprise and I am at the end waiting to submit the DS230 and can't since I don't have his docs...I wasn't aware of this at first but I am able to track the mail through usps.com since hubby registered it...It still shows that it hasn't left Jamaica yet...I called usps to confirm and she said yes it is still in Jamaica...six days later... ...I just called hubby and told him he needs to go back to the post office and ask them was is the hold up...he didn't sound like he wanted to...he hates confrontations...but I told him this is very important...I would like to get an interview by July and that won't happen if we wait to send the docs....Also, I was reading that we need the new birth certificate now...is that for the NVC stage or the interview stage???...my husband sent me his old version birth certificate...I applied for a new version birth certificate for him online since March and still have not received that yet either...thats another story...I just hope I get that before we get to the interview stage...this is truly more than what I expected...

You need to new version of the BC to send to the NVC. Also your Hubby should have sent the mail via express mails from Ja can take up to three weeks to get to you. I know cause i live here. And he will not be able to retrieve the mail either because it is probably still at the Kingston CSO waiting to be shipped.

Good Luck though,

Kishmar

PS In the future send all mail out of JA via express mail if you really need to get document in time

don't tell me that please... :crying: ...but my hubby told me that the lady at the post office told him that it will take 5-10 business days to reach me...i'm from NY...so she said to expect it sometime next week...He sent me mail before and it usually did take 5-10 business...I usually got it between the 6th and 8th business day...so I'm hoping by Wednesday I get it since that will be the 8th day...I still didn't get the new version of the BC yet...I order it online...once again using the cheaper process I didn't think I will need that quick and opted for the 6-8weeks shipment...today of course made 8 weeks and still nothing...I emailed them and have not received a response...I went on their website to check the status and it is saying Certificate Processing....there is two stages after that...Certificate generated and Certificate Shipped...well i am just going to send what i have to NVC once I get the docs and see what happens...hopefully I do not get an RFE for that and once I get to the interview I will have the newer version...If i do get an RFE then I will have to tell hubby to go get it and pay for the express one...Thanks for the response though...

I was gonna say go ahead and send in the old BC and just see what happens. You never know. I sent in my old style marriage certificate from JA and got no RFE. Sometimes USCIS and NVC really has no idea what the "official" document looks like from EVERY country...so you see, they could just accept your old one. If not and you get and RFE let me know....there is an RFE shortcut you can use to send out the info without waiting for the NVC to send you the paper work...you'll only lose about 3 days processing.

Oh and as far as the mail in JA...yes SUPER slow, however 8 days sounds about right...thats how long most things take to get to me from there. The slow process in leaving the island. Once its in the US it moves like regular mail and arrives to your destination with 3 days tops.

I got a crazy story about trying to get my MC from jamaica. Customer service there is so bad. And the process to handle the simplest things is SOOOOO drawn out. Its like people are living in 1898 instead of 2008. I don't get it.

My progress as of today...I still have not received my hubby's mail since he sent it on April 25...I am going MADDDD...I check usps.com to see the status...still says the samething that "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment"...to me means it is still in Jamaica...my husband went to a RDG post close to him yesterday and I told him to go ahead and order a BC...he said they had a 3 day one so he bought the 3 day and he will get it by Thursday...he paid JA$2,250 for it...he told me as soon as he gets it on thursday he is going to express mail it to me and hopefully I can get it by saturday, he is also going to send the other copy of his PC and copy of his passport since I probably won't receive the other mail by then...does JA have a next day express mail or is the 2 day the fastest one???...I basically lost 10 days because of all this and my hubby is spending so much money...I feel like crying... :crying: ...my case could have been completed by now...oh well...I guess I shouldn't complain...I should be grateful that I'm finally at this stage...I just want this to be over with... :(
