Haonie,

Good Luck to your coming interview.

May I have your collected interview questions? It would help me to prepare my fiancee a lot.

Thanks a lot in advance! best wishes!

2007k1

Yes, I second that request. I know you and Peter had a list of possible/probable questions that might be asked. Did you amalgamate them yourselves from many posts, or is there a master list somewhere?

Timeline
.........

A Timeline of third trip (unless you meant to write "Timeline of the three trips, I would have a timeline of all trips/emails/phone calls etc. )

...........

Peter and Thi

Peter,

Can you please tell me how a timeline letter to the Consulate should look like?

I did not have one when I turn in my I-129F to USCIS.

Thanks a lot in advance!

2007K1

2007K1

The timeline I made was a list of the dates and what happened. I also included a few paragraphs about our relationship. The purpose of the paragraphs was to further impress on USCIS (for the I-129f) and Consulate (for the interview) that we have a real relationship, truly love each other and expect to be together soon and forever. Here's an example of the paragraphs from my cover letter about the evidence for my September trip:

"In July 2007, Thi and I decided we wanted to see each other again. Being apart is difficult even though we video chat almost everyday and talk on the phone since December 31, 2007. We decided September would be best since we thought her interview would be in January or February. Waiting until then would be very hard. I decided on EVA Airlines and booked the date September 11, 2007 to September 28, 2007.

My flight was pleasant and spent time talking to a French Canadian doctor who is working in HCMC on the flight from Taipei to HCMC. His postive feelings about Vietnam reinforced my own opinions."

Here's a short example from my cover letter which had the timeline from my September trip to see Thi which I submitted at her interview at HCMC Consulate (which of course they didn't even ask to look at!!):

"The following is submitted as proof of our relationship and my September trip:

* Passport and Visa stamps dated September 12, 2007 (Arrival) and September 28, 2007 (Departure)

* Interary printed from Expedia.com showing my EVA flights to and from Vietnam.

* Boarding Passes and Bagage Claim Tickets for the flights

* Wells Fargo Credit Card Statement dated 8/13/07 showing payment of flight. Note red arrow.

* Wells Fargo Credit Card Statment dated 9/13/07 showing See’s Candy charge (9/10) for candy gift for Thi. Note red arrow.

* Wells Fargo Credit Card Statement dated 9/27/07 showing CVC Pharmacy charges (9/4/ & 9/5) for candy gifts for This’s family, An Dong SBit charge (9/17) for diamond earrings, EIBVN Vietnam Eximba charge (9/22) for curtains and Liberty 1 Hotel charge for 9/26/07 family dinner. All marked with red arrow.

* Khanh Duc Tran’s Temproraty Residence Book page.

* Bus tickets from September Trip

* September 12, 2007 Arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport photos

* September 13, 2007 Photos of sightseeing

* September 13, 2007 Receipt of Lunch at Pho Xua with discount coupon and photo

* September 14, 2007 Receipts from Dam Sen Park

* Photos from Dam Sen Park. It rained while we were there.

* September 16, 2007 Receips from Suoi Tien Theme Park. I paid for Thi, Khanh, Dung and Nhung, a neighbor of Dung’s. Also the Suoi Tien Theme Park map and game tickets

* September 16, 2007 Photos from Suoi Tien Theme Park. It also rained while we were there."

I used a red marker to outline dates or items of importance on the evidence I submitted which I remarked about in the timeline. The layout of this is similar to the #18 "Statement of having met your fiance(e) in the last two years" and "Proof of on going relationship" evidence I submitted.

I hope this helps you in getting a pink!

Peter and Thi

I am still waiting to hear from em Thuy about the questions from her successful interview. She hasn't been online for 2 days. I will post the questions (I understand they were very normal, simple questions) when I hear from her.

Instead, I will now post interview questions from a recent interview, resulting in the pink slip. This woman's fiancee is Vietnamese-American, and I would gather that they communicate by Vietnamese rather than English. The interview was conducted in Vietnamese through a translator. I apologize for posting in Vietnamese, but although I have a basic understanding of the questions and comments contained herein, I feel incompetent to do true and accurate translation. But I figure, what the heck? It might help somebody, and if not, nothing lost right? Maybe somebody can do a quick translation for us.

By the way, I learned something new today: OX means husband (ông xã), and BX means wife (bà xã). I only knew the words chồng and vợ before. In fact, my dictionary doesn't even have OX or BX in it. Plus I learned three more words for "you" today. Sometimes I despair of EVER learning this language well.........

Can we be April interview wannabees? Thought we would be there right behind you Haonie, but that apparently ain't gonna happen. I know a woman (not a VJ member) who has her interview on the 9th. My fiancee is in almost daily contact with her and I talk regularly with her fiance, a man from upstate NY. I will post all I find out in a couple of days. Good luck.

Finally, I have the interview questions from em Thùy:

What is your name?

What is your fiance's name?

How old is he?

Who lives with him?

Who introduced the two of you?

What is your F's job?

How many time did he visit Vietnam?

How long were the visits?

How many houses does he own in the U.S.? He is a farmer/landlord. She got that question wrong, by the way. She answered 3 houses. The correct number is 5.

Here is your pink slip.

Come back on Wednesday for the visa.

That's great she got her visa. Just curious, was the interviewer a young handsome American?

Guess what? I was wrong. I actually talked with em Thuy today at length. The interviewer, it turns out was Asian, she thought he looked Chinese or Korean. She said he spoke English with no foreign accent though.

Em Thuy picked up her visa today (yesterday over there), and has a plane ticket in hand for May 6. Unfortunately, that means we will miss meeting her in person by one day.
