Hi everybody,

Over the past few months I log in religiously every morning and I have an instant group of people to chit chat with. Internetzzz is fun that way, innit?

The information here is fantastic! This website should be posted at all POEs so when border agents do not allow foreigners into the USA the foreigner can write this website down instead of panicking and finding a lawyer and shelling out a few grand only to do something they can do themselves.

Anyway, I enter the USA with my K1 visa tomorrow and it's the beginning of my new life. Quite excited! Though I'm there every other month, this time it's forever.

It's raining in Vancouver today, after a week of sunshine. It's telling me something! Next time I come back, I come back as a visitor, a tourist. Oy!

But there are a bunch of things I've to learn to do in the USA, such as driving on the highway to get everywhere. Maniacs over there, I tell ya! In my man's big a$$ SUV, too! I'm more a little car kinda gal. And getting used to American service. It's aight, I can be a good b1tch just like the rest of them.

And while he's at work I've to start doing the drive to San Francisco to house hunt on a weekly basis with our realtor. Housing has gone down everywhere in the USA except for San Francisco. Nuts! What a bad time to buy! But I love SF houses, remind me of Full House. But I do look forward to shopping at Whole Foods. We don't have Whole Foods in Vancouver (the closest one is a half hour drive).

But it's ok, SF is only a two-hour flight away, and a 14-hour drive away. We're both on the west coast, and have wonderful restaurants. We're both very physically fit and active cities. We're both environmentally conscious and intellectual. I always feel SF is just a bigger Vancouver. So, it won't be that bad. I keep telling myself that.

So I've had so many good bye parties people are surprised to see me in Vancouver still. Haha. But tonight is the last one.

I love you, Vancouver!!!

Thank you, Canadians!

We're having our government marriage in May. By that I mean our legal one, the one where we must have in order to adjust status right away; the one which we whipped up since getting my NOA 2 in February because we didn't know when we could marry yet. I call it the GOVERNMENT-SANCTIONED wedding. Then we do a mini-moon.

Three months later we will go to Hawaii and do the wedding EYE want. I've always wanted an outdoor, barefoot wedding. But this wedding that EYE want is just for my man and myself. Kinda like a vow renewal, since um, we'd have been married already! That will incorporate our honeymoon, too.

I love Vancouver too, but I'm sure you'll love San Fran. It's a great city! If my hubby wasn't in Las Vegas, I'd move to SF in a heartbeat. (And if you like Whole Foods, you'll probably like Trader Joes also.)

When you need a Vancouver fix, check out Alaska Air and Air Canada websites on Wednesdays - for the past couple of years I've flown down about 4 times a year for about $250 return, and it's a direct flight. I know the prices are a bit more now with fuel costs but you still might get lucky.

Good luck!

Wow, that's about twice what it was when I lived there! But it is less than housing in Vancouver.

FYI, there is a pretty good public transit system from the East Bay and Peninsula (BART). There is also a pretty extensive network of buses within the city (MUNI) but I never really used those (I lived in Berkeley and commuted to South of Market, so just using BART was easiest). The few times I did, I found them to be a little erratic (ie, you wait 20 minutes before a single bus shows up and then four show up in a row) but at least they provide pretty good coverage. Driving in SF is HELLACIOUS. I moved away 9 years ago, so I'm not much help on anything specific; just wanted to point out that you don't have to drive into town if you don't want to.

Enjoy your move and your life with your SO!
