I-134 form questions

Hi!

I have a couple of questions regarding the I-134 form:

1 - The example of I-134 provided on this site gives the name of the foreign fiance as the answer to question 10 ("I have submitted a visa petition to USCIS on behalf of the following person. If none, state none"). My understanding of that question was that they are asking about any previous petition (not included the current petition). How do you guys understand it?

2 - I find question 11 tricky ("I intend / do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3"). What do they mean by "specific contribution? I would be tempted to answer "Room and board & other necessities as per husband/wife relationship". What do you think?

3 - Question 7 ("I am employed as or engaged in the business of (Type of business)...."). My girlfriend is working in a hospital as a sonographer. Should she put "Sonographer" or "Hospital" (since the type of business is more the hospital that the job title itself)?

Thank you in advance!!

Hi Yomtl. :)

Our lawyer filled ours out, so my answers are based on how she interpreted the form (which I would imagine she's filled out quite a number of times before).

1 - Q10: You fill in your fiance's name. You HAVE submitted a petition on her/his behalf, so this is not asking about prior relationships.

2 - Q11: Check do not intend. I was suprised to see that but I assume it's because you will be fully supporting your partner, not making specific contributions per se. I agree that this question is tricky and would be willing to bet a lot of couples answer it differently!

3 - Q7: I would put Sonographer as Type of Business and the Hopital's name in Name of Concern, then the hospital's address.

1) It is talking about the current petition. If someone were providing support as a Co-Sponsor, they man not have filed a petition before.

2) Question 11 has more to do with other types of NON-Immigrant visas like student, business, or visitors visa, in those cases the sponsor can stipulate how much and for how long they are going to provide support. This is not the case for K-Visas, question 11 does not apply because of the immigrant intent nature of the K-Visa, I did not check anything and noted (N/A K-1 immigrant process)

3) Medical profession.

The example form is very useful for understanding how the form is filled out.

Hi!

If you were sponsor for another visa petition before (in previous years).

2 - I find question 11 tricky ("I intend / do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the person named in item 3"). What do they mean by "specific contribution? I would be tempted to answer "Room and board & other necessities as per husband/wife relationship". What do you think?

According with the example you don't need to tick any choice, only you need to put a note N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence ) Have you see the I134 examples form?

3 - Question 7 ("I am employed as or engaged in the business of (Type of business)...."). My girlfriend is working in a hospital as a sonographer. Should she put "Sonographer" or "Hospital" (since the type of business is more the hospital that the job title itself)? I think that Hospital's Sonographer would be Ok.

Thank you in advance!!

I'm using a lawyer too but since I'm not really happy with the service that he has provided me so far, I just wanted to check what you guys thought about the answers to those questions (the answers given by my lawyer are really different from what is suggested in the example I-134 form from this site....)

Here is what my lawyer wrote for answers to those questions:

Question 10: He answered "None"

Question 11: he checked "I intend to make specific contributions...." and specified "Room and board & other necessities as per husband/wife relationship"

So I really don't know what to think anymore....

Well it sounds like it doesn't really matter which you do for #11 as it doesn't pertain to Kers.

But it sounds to me like your lawyer is just wrong on Q10.

Plus they don't see the I-134 until interview day, so I would think any of this could be talked about with the interviewer, no?
