Hello~

Just double checking myself--When filling out the DS-156K form it asks for proof of engagement. We have decided not to purchase rings until we are together in the US so is proof of the ongoing relationship sufficient. I know we are paranoid but this process is so overwhelming! We have each also typed out letters of our intent to marry so I figure between that, emails, photos, and phone records we should be ok--Are we correct?

Thanks

Micki

I went through K1 years back and i guess the info doesn't change. I also went through US Embassy in London and the info you say you have is more than enough infact when i think about it I only gave them about 4 photos a couple e-mails and letter from my parents stating it was a true relationship etc... The interview was short maybe only 10 mins as there was a lot people waiting to get seen. The questions were simple but i guess they want to make sure what u have in you previously submitted was true fact. It was easy and nothing to worry about so just to put your mind at rest ...have an enjoyable day and dont worry, you meet ppl all in the same boat it will pass quickly :)

Good luck and i bet you walk out with visa and a big smile :)

I was told that without an engagement ring, the chances of approval go way down.

APRIL FOOL'S DAY! :P

Just kidding, you will be fine as long as you can show an ongoing relationship. They know people don't always have rings right away for a number of reasons. It's not an important factor in their decision. It probably helps if you have it, but doesn't hurt if you don't.

Hey micki,

Don't worry! We don't have a ring either, and all we have is the same proof you have. I've been fortunate enough to spend nine out of the last 12 months with my fiance, so we have A LOT of pictures. Another thing that will DEFINITELY help is copies of your passport pages (if you've visited your fiance), airline tickets showing when you visited, etc. That helps a lot. But if not, don't worry you're totally fine. Like someone replied earlier, there are many reasons why people don't have a ring, and the govt won't punish you because you can't afford/want to wait on the rings!!!

Good luck and don't worry!!

We had rings at the time of the interview, but my husband (then fiance) took his off so the CO wouldn't think we were married. We had all the proof from the I-129F, more pictures/cards/letter/gifts and a scrapbook I put together.

We were fine
