HPV Vaccination Dispute! WTF!!!

OK...

i just found out yesterday that I MUST get the HPV Vaccination in order to pass my medical exam! When did this become not a matter of choice?!? It hasn't even been implimented in schools and was just introduced to the public last year! How can something that has only been in the works for a few years be 100% without a doubt safe?!?

In looking it up on the web, I found that some reports have shown a result of miscarage in some women after having the injection!!! I'm very torn and upset by this! Does anyone know the legalities of this? I want to know if I have the right to say 'NO' to this vaccination.

I could understand if I was moving to the U.S. for work or school which means I would more than likely to have mutiple sexual partners. BUT I'm getting married for God sakes! HPV is a sexually transmitted disease. We have been together for three years exclusively and I have been tested for it and don't have it, so how else am I going to get it if he isn't a carrier?

ARG!!!!! Somebody help before I completely FREAK!!!

Thanks, and all the best,

J.

Hiya - lemme copy and paste what I put in another thread :)

Ok - I figured as this is the word on everyone's lips at the moment that we needed somewhere to keep all the info in one place.

~~~
First off:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_2994.html
Vaccination Requirements
United States immigration law requires immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the vaccination requirements. See IV Vaccination Requirements for the list of required vaccinations and additional information.
As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.
By this we can assume that we don't need to get the HPV vaccine until we are in the US (by "we" I mean females under the age of 27):
http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/...ccinechart.html
I would still like to know what happens if our last injection (as it seems to be a six month course of three injections) falls after our 27th birthday. Any info on this would be welcome.
Hope this helps :)
Oh - as an extra - apparently you only need to have the first injection before AOS and then you don't have to bother with the rest - as long as they can see you have made the effort to start the course of treatment...
No - it is required for immigrant visas (K3/CR-1 etc) and for AOS if you are going through on a K-1. It is only required for females under 27.
For either of these you can get the first injection (it is a course of three injections) and then leave it - it is not mandatory for USCs at all - it is just part of the visa process. I think they are going to try and introduce it as a widespread thing for girls under 12 before they become sexually active but that is all as far as I understand it...
I'm 24 and having a vaccine is not the issue; what is the issue is what the OP says; it's unnecessary (and a little insulting...), the medical risks aren't clear, and it's also expensive. I can understand requiring tetanus, MMR, etc., but not this. If there is any possible way to opt out I'll certainly be taking it.
So I am confused, I have read that the medical is not required until the AOS, however it can be completed in the non US citizens home coutry (the medical is valid for 12 months after issue, as long as it stays in the sealed enverlope).
However, what I dont understand is this:
Let say you test positive for HPV--HSV2 (genital herpes--which for the record, 3 in 10 people have under the age of 27), then does it mean that the AOS may not be granted?
Does this mean that even though your married (thus never going to sleep with anyone except your partner, EVER again), and you've been through a very invasive and rigerous proceedure to prove how much you love each oher, you may still be denied US Citizenship becasue of something that while not curable is very manageable and treatable?
Slow down everyone...
The requirement (which I completely agree sucks!!!) is to have the vaccine if you are female under age 27.
It does not matter whether you are postive or negative, a carrier or not of any of the strains of HPV.
There is no testing for HPV during an medical exam or other process during the immigration journey.
Warm Regards,
Samby
