HI All,

I hope someone has an answer to this as I can not find one on the USCIS site. Once a VISA has been issued can you get married in the forign country before entering the US or must you wait to enter the US to get married?

Absolutely NOT.

If you marry before entry on a K-1, you will no longer be a fiancee, only fiancees can use K-1 visa, you will be starting all over again this time filing an I-130 for a spousal visa.

FAQ: 4.11)...My alien fiancee has been issued a K-1 visa. Can we get married abroad and then come back together to the US with the K-1?

Hi

You cannot get married in the foreign country. The K1 is for a USC to bring his foreign fiance to the U.S. to get married.

If you are married outside the U.S. when you enter, they are no longer a fiance but a spouse and would have the wrong visa. They would need a spousal visa to enter and stay.

You have 6 months to enter the States once you have the visa and once you enter the States, you must be married within 90 days.

Then you file for AOS (Green card, Advanced Parole and Work Authorization)
