What the heck is "A#" ??

on question 10-- if you check that you obtained citizenship by birth--a box below asks fo "Number of certificate"

I assume this means birth certificate? (I don't have mine) but the sample form says "ONLY for naturalization certificate"----I'm a little confused here!

Finally: (from form G-235a) (box at bottom) I still don't know what an "Alien Registration Number" is and whether my fiancee has/should have/will EVER have such a number---what is it? Is it relevant to the K-! visa process?

Thanks All!

Johnta,

The format of the I-129f does make Q10 confusing. The certificate number being asked for is the Certificate of Naturalization for naturalized citizens.

If you fiancee has never before had dealings with the USCIS, or it's predecessor INS, then she doesn't have an A#. One will be assigned when the I-129f is received, it may or may not be shown on the Receipt Notice depending on which Service Center you use.

Thanks Yodrak!

So are you saying that "A#" = "Alien regstration Number" ?

"A#" is just 'shorthand' ?

Yup as I discovered yesterday the A number in on the NOA2 next to the beneficiary's name ;) Doesn't actually state that is's an Alien Registration number though :)
