co sponsor concerns

My co sponsor just called and she's had people from her office tell her she will be responsible for my husband-to-be if he gets credit cards, a car, or even a house and he doesn't pay them like he's supposed to.

It is my understanding that it's only government assistance (welfare, food stamps, government housing, etc.) that the co sponsor would be responsible to pay back, if the immigrant receives it.

Please help me clarify, so I can reassure my co sponsor.

thanks ~ Belle

Thanks Kezzie .. that makes me feel better and I'm sure my friend will feel better about it too.

Also .. I know I have to fill out the I-134 affidavit of support... I've got my friend filling out the I-1864 .. is this correct?

She also files taxes jointly with her husband. But she's the only one co-sponsoring with me .. Is there other paperwork to fill out to say that her husband is not part of the sponsorship?

Or anything else I need to know before we send the support papers to my fiance?

He's had his medical and sent off the last packet to the London Embassy and we're now just waiting for their response and an interview date.

Thanks for helping me/us.

~ Belle

I'm sorry to bump my own topic .. but I'm still hoping for help with the other 2 questions I added above.

I've been stressed over the whole co sponsor thing since we started the k1 process and now that we've gotten this far, I don't want to mess anything up by not having the correct forms and information.

thanks!
