I mailed my visa fee on the 4th of this month. NVC received it on the 5th. I called today and NVC processed it "just yesterday."

Wow! Over two weeks to processed a check! I dont know why I keep sending my stuff express mail when its just going to sit at NVC for two weeks!.

Then again, if I dont send it express mail, its still going to sit at NVC for two weeks plus the mailing time. Aargh!

I dont know. Maybe its just me but if someone gives me a check, I usually deposit it right away! Or they could at least process it on the day they received it. They dont have to deposit it right away, given that its a money order and they know it wil go through. Mark their system or something so at least the process moves on right away.

Just venting guys.

they probably deposit the money fast, but processing time to the next step is slow

that is my opinion

also, why pay express mail

if you send something on Monday the receiver gets it Tuesday or Wednesday in any part of USA with just a normal mail fee

I was just going to ask this questions. Because I sent mine last week and it was received on thursday so its been 1 week and 1 day and it hasn't been processed yet. I figured it would take less than a week.

One thing that might be forgotten: The fees are paid to the St. Louis, MO address and then they notify NVC that the money has been received. NVC only updates their records every Monday night. So this could be some of the delay. We had the same situation: we mailed the AOS on 3/3, they received it on 3/4. NVC was notified on 3/10 that it had been received; NVC generated I-864 package on 3/17. So 2 weeks.

I dont know where you live in the USA but I've never sent a regular mail outside of my own state that got there in one day. And I've lived in 5 different states in the last 20 years. Maybe im just unlucky with mail services. :-)

Anyway, the short answer is.. Its worth it to me to have to pay extra postage if there's a chance that my wife gets here one day early.

Yeah I think I'll do this next time. Regular mail is a crapshoot. It may or may not get there in 2 to 5 business days and there's no guarantee. I think Priority Mail is "acceptable". Its just that everytime its time for me to send something back to NVC or USCIS, I get so excited and forgets about the costs. :bonk:

Its almost a year now since me and my wife started this journey. I wish there's an option where if you pay twice the fee, your spouse gets here in 6 months. You pay 4 times that and your spouse gets here in 3 months. 12 times that and your spouse gets here in 1 month.

I'll probably pay 4 times. Can I have my wife here in 3 months please. ha ha
