g-325a Parental question

I'm in what I think is a very odd situation. On the g-325a you are supposed to include the parents names, birthdates, and where they live. But for my fiance this information is unavailable. She never knew her father and the mother didin't include her name on the birth certificate, so the birth certificate is blank. She was raised by another family but never adopted. Will I encounter problems if I put unknown in this section? Should I include an explanation of why it's unknown? She really grew up without a family, except for a sister and brother she's close to. Does anyone have a suggestion for me or has anyone experienced a similar situation?

strange. I would make a written statement and certified copy of that certificate. I had to explain descrepencies on mine as well and was never questioned.

My financee didn't know who her father was. So we put "unknown." I just sent out the i-129f packet yesterday, so I don't know if they accepted that answer or not. However, it was suggested on this forum to go with the "unknown" route.

Not sure how to handle the mother situation.
