My POE was Newark,New Jersey and since we landed at 0430 in the morning, there was no rush at the airport. At the immigration counter, Daniel went to the line for USCs and I moved to the non USC line. Whe Daniel got to the immigration officer and told him that I was standing in another line, the officer just asked him to get me there. The officer was really sweet and told us that next time we both need to be together and not in separate lines :) He then took us to the counter where there were more officers processing the immigrant visas. They took my passport, I-94, customs declaration form and the brown envelope. The officer asked me to sit and wait while Daniel got our baggage and 2 minutes later called me and handed the passport back to me and wished me a happy married life.

Pretty hassle free and NO QUESTIONS ASKED :D

I carried my x-ray but they did not ask for it

All the best to you on your journey too

Joe11,

You can read lots of POE reviews here:

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/poereviews.php

Or, if there's a specific VJ member whose POE experience you're interested in, you can click on their name, go to the lower left of their profile, click on timeline, and read about their POE experience.

We had good luck at JFK... no crowd (that seems to depend on how many planes arrive from overseas at the same time as yours), friendly IO, got the temp EAD, etc...

Best wishes to you and your fiancee, and congratulations on overcoming the 221G!

Happy landings!

Maya

Many thanks to the Visajourney community for all the help!

POE entry for my fiance was extremely smooth at EWR, in fact my fiance was asked more questions at New Delhi by Indian immigration officer than US immigration at POE.

My fiance landed at EWR on 20 th March at 4:30 am and proceeded to non immigrant line, the officer at the counter escorted her down stairs to processing center there it was only 10 min of waiting and then her name was called.

She presented her passport, I-94 and famous sealed envelop, the officer at the counter was surprised and asked what is this(envelop)? she replied I am on K-1, his responce Ohh! ok then he opend the envelop stamped I-94 and the passport, no other questions were asked and then she proceeded to customs. Over all it took only 35 min from landing to arrival out side the gate.

Tip: Do not bring any fruits, vegetables or food specially on K-1 the customs officers are asking these questions and may scan your baggage.
