Okay so I was finally able to make some phone calls today, First was my congressman, who I had to leave a voice message with, then I called CSC to see if i could get a live person. After waiting over 20 minutes the guy answered. I told him my situation about being over 6 weeks and my case hasn't made it to the NVC. He said he has an idea where my file is, but will have to order it which could take about a week, and then have it mailed to the NVC which he said I should allow 30 days for.

Has anyone else heard of this, them having to "order" a file. I asked him what happened and he wasn't very clear on it. Just saying he was ordering it right now and that I should wait.

So, in the mean time I am waiting for a call back from the congressmans office. I'll keep updating when I can.:unsure:

how weird ist that? sounds like they put it away, and just wait for the time to pass and you to call. If they had send it (like they state on the NOA2) it would be somewhere else. Or do you think they took copies of it, and now get those out of the basement?? sorry that it takes forever :(

I'm guessing I got one of the new employees they hired to help with the extra case load and they approved it and then sent it to the warehouse for storage figureing that since it's approved they are all done. But seriously Thursday makes 7 weeks since NOA2, Tina and I could have made a lot of progress towards the finishline with those weeks.

Well, I called the NVC again today and this time I talked to a man, who was very nice. He explained the process at the NVC. The packet is received and entered into the system. Then it is sent to have security checks run on it, and once that is complete, they send back to NVC (probably electronically) and then the packet is sent out to the Embassy. I asked him about the security check because I thought that was done at the CSC level. He said that may be the case, but it happens at their level, too, if so. I told him I received my letters that stated it would be shipped within one week, and today is that one week. He asked "they told you that?" and then "they should not be saying that stuff". HAHAHA I got the impression this was not the 'normal' person who answers the phones, but more of a higher-up kind of guy. He was very nice, though, and I thanked him for the information. So now I am a bit dismayed about this new wrinkle in the process, but know the security approval should happen soon.

HAHAHA thanks for the concern! :-) My only concern is that even a one day delay in calling the Embassy to schedule the interview could result in another week or two before it can be scheduled. With the Embassy already saying they are scheduling 2 months out, I need to cut as many days off of that as I can since we already have plans made with reservations and tickets in the fall, and I need them to be here well before then so they can get acclimated to the new surroundings somewhat before they are overwhelmed with more new experiences. Not to mention, scheduling two vacation times almost right on top of each other is going to be difficult for me. If I can track the shipment to Kiev, then she can call sooner and not have to wait for snail mail to notify us a week or two after it arrives there. Even the first letter from the NVC to me did not arrive until about a week after they had received our case, so I know the timing of a snail-mail notification of shipping will not coincide with the arrival time in Kiev. I am just trying to trim as much time off the next step as possible, but I know I am frustrating myself, too. Fortunately, I am not letting it get to me just yet! :innocent:

I hate to second guess your phone answerer...but it sounds like a new guy who didn't really know the K-1 process  That sounds like what the NVC does with every type of visa EXCEPT K-1s. We're the exception, that's why we can't get information through the automated system, we never get put into their computer system that way because all they do is receive it and ship it out. A lot of people have been told their petition was received and sent the same day, because the NVC doesn't do anything with it. Your petition probably fell between a crack, they found it, then had to tell you a line so they didn't have to say "We're inept." ;) It'll probably show up at your embassy in a day or two.

Edit with a second thought: I assume so, but have you guys tried to call the embassy or DOS? I don't have the instructions for calling DOS, but I know Don has done it so he can probably tell you how.

Oh Blimey... All this talk of NVC made it so I HAD TO CALL THEM AGAIN!

And I am totally delighted to say that they "just received our petition" and are "working on getting it into the system". So I have my new case no. :D and she said all I have to do now is "wait to hear from London".

Phew, thank GOODNESS.

I am now pretty hopeful that my packet 3 will be at my house when I get back from my wonderful holiday with fiance Dave. And at least I can stop wondering whether it will arrive before I leave on Saturday "sigh".

Geeeeez this is stressful. Luck to all of my fellow waiters.

Maybe you are correct. I was surprised to hear about another possible security check. Yesterday their computer said mine is in administrative processing, so I am not certain if there was a different note on the screen today or not. We have not called the Embassy yet because it costs 12.00 for each 8 minutes. We have our PIN number to make that call, but was holding off until we knew that is should be there. I guess I can call the DOS and see what they say about it. B) thanks for the info KimandRuss.

Well, I called the DOS and finally got through. All he could tell me is that my case has not left the United States. I asked him about the security check that I was told this morning and he said that they do peform security checks at the NVC level, as well, and that additionally, Kiev will perform another once they get the packet! I told him I thought that was a lot of duplication of work, but he really did not seem interested. He also said that "administrative processing" and "security checks" can be, and probably is, one and the same. He then said I just had to go by what the NVC tells me and that each case is 'different'.:angry:
