I was wondering if there was a set amount that you shlould have in savings on the support document? Since my Divorce my saving was spread pretty thin but not where I need help. I have school loans and car loans, exc... so soon as the money goes in it goes out and and it make it take longer to save a good amount. Should I use a co- support applicant?

You don't need to have any savings unless you do not meet the poverty guidelines and want to use your savings to meet the guidelines.

Here are the 2008 guidelines: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1646412

If you do not meet the guidelines, you may want to look into a cosponsor.

You don't even have to show any of your assets unless your salary is less than 125% of the poverty guideline - you just have to show that you can support yourself and your fiance (and any other dependents) at the 125% level, I guess you'd say. If you don't make this you can use assets (doesn't sound like you have much) to bolster it. The instructions tell you the guidelines for that. And otherwise yeh, co-sponsor is your last route.

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

January 18th, 2008 - I-129F sent to VSC

January 31st, 2008 - received NOA1, issued Jan. 24 :)

February 24th, 2008 - NOA2; omgwtfbbqlolz

February 29th, 2008 - NVC letter sent

Read the rules very closely regarding the financial support process. You can go with earnings if your gross income is 125% of the poverty line (there's a schedule you can look that up with), or if failing that, then you have to have A Lot of assets - cash, mortgages, property, etc. to show that you can support your future spouse without them becoming a "burden". If your financial position doesn't point to success in either of these areas then, yes, you will need a sponsor. If you meet the 125% poverty line restrictions, you don't have to submit any bank information or list other assets. Just have some recent paystubs, tax returns (or transcripts) proving your income, as well as a letter from your employer as support to your I-134.

Good Luck!

Thank you everyone. I am very thankfull for you help. That takes off a lot of worry. Do you have to put down child support if you and ex spouse have an agreement with out the court during your divorce? I just want to know what house hold poverty rate will I be in. I think I will be fine to a 3 person one but I do not know know if they will count my son if he lives with his mother for the school year and me in the summer? Well thanks again to everyone
