Well, the vaccines are not a requirement to get your K-1 Visa. They are in preparation for AOS. So....if, at the time you file for AOS, you are 27...it will not be a required vaccine for you anymore. If I'm wrong someone correct me :)

As for packet 3, send it back as soon as you can! You can wait to move until after you are 27 if that makes you feel better, but as long as you get your I693A filled out and file AOS after you turn 27 you won't need the vaccine.

well, your file just left NVC for montreal... so you probably will only get your packet 3 at the end of march at the earliest...

so if you send it back mid april... you should have an interview for june sometime I think (not guaranteed obviously)..

so don't stress! ^_^

I think Vancouver lets you request an interview date, but I don't think Montreal does. I requested a later date when I sent my Packet 3 in and they pretty much ignored my request. I emailed them and asked again. They said they could cancel my current date and put me back at the end of the line to get a new date which they said would be in 4 to 6 months. I know it's a little faster now, but I kept my original date.

If I was you I'd send the package back a little later or look into the idea that you don't need your vaccines until AOS.

Exactly. I don't want to have to worry about rescheduling and being put on the end of the list.

I'm going to delay a bit in sending back package 3...

I don't mind if I wait another month or so, it's just a month..that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

I'm saving myself money and worry too.

Thanks guys!!!! :)

I'm going to email Vancouver just to double check that Crikey! It's not that I don't believe you, it just doesn't make sense to me as they're not required for K1's coming from the Philippines and China for instance. I'm in the same situation as Laura, so I guess we shall see. I'll let youknow when I know!

I wish they were booking medicals in a week here. It's looking like 3 weeks at the least!

When does anything make sense? lol Vancouver hands out the visa next day, while Mtl mails them out!! And even the two consulates differ on paperwork requirements!!! crazy stuff!! hope u get it all sorted out. Personally i would want the answer in an email for proof, that way you could take it to the interview!! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Sweetie,

Ok, breathe in and then out. Grab a cup of coffee and a ciggie (oh shite, you don't smoke, oh well... ). Question from the uninformed: what is so bad about getting the said vaccine? My take babe, for you to be sooner with Nick is to just send the packet 3 as soon as you can, and place yourself in the waiting list; which we all know in MTL's case is long and painful. You might not even need the darn thing when time comes, or maybe you will, case in which you go get it and that's that. That's MY opinion because I know you are in so much pain being far away from the guy we call Nick. But then again, I am crazy. Just my 2 cents sister (F)

Vancouver is the only one, that lets you request an interview date..Montreal does not.. and as Flames said Vancouver allows you to pick up the Visa the next day..Montreal mails it taking anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks to receive it..Vancouver asks that you FAX the checklist back, with Montreal you must MAIL it back....

Montreal is moving along pretty good right now, but things could change in the blink of an eye.. I believe it was this time last year that things really slowed down and people were made to wait the full 4 to 6 months for their interviews.. we are K-3 and had to wait 5 months..so dont count on Montreal to be consistent...

I would get the checklist back ASAP..you can still check things off the checklist even if you dont have them in your hands.. we got the passport pics taken a month after we sent the checklist and did the medical 2 months after the checklist was sent..

best of luck to all of you waiting for Montreal!

Thanks everyone!!!

I'll just wait it out and see when I get package 3 and go from there.

My package is in Montreal.

To answer my dear Sis Len, I don't like the thought of the vaccine, it's very expensive, controversial and I just plain don't want it! :)

Wait times aren't that long anymore for interviews..people have gotten an interview at Montreal in just over a month recently....I'll be cutting it quite close.

We'll see.

Thanks again dudes!!! :)
