CO-SPONSOR I-134 Q'S

My dad will be the co-sponsor and we've completed the I-134 with supporting evidence for him. Just a couple of q's before I send this box off to Amman.

Question 8

The following persons are dependent upon me for support: (Place an "x" in the appropriate column to indicatewhether the person named is wholly or partially dependent upon you for support.)

My dad answered NONE - My mom said they file tax "married filing joint" and both incomes were included. Is this correct to do? My mom recieves a monthly SS check.

I filled out an I-134 as sponsor and my dad did his own as sole co-sponsor. Would my mom have to sign this affidavit too?

Please advise... its so appreciated.

HI Gwen,

I think your mom and dad will both have to be listed as the co-sponsor and sign as well. I remember reading that someone was having a problem due to the co-sponor with the I-134 was married and didnt include the spouse and signature and it was returned to them to make the corrections.

I added my mom as "parially" dependent because bank accounts have both of their names on it (Savings and CD) and they filed jointly. However, on I-134 the total annual income amount only from my dads and I included proof of that (SS/Annuity/ VA). As for signing this form..Im still a little unsure because I read here on VJ topic "I134- Brief description of requirements"

If the sponsor is married, the affidavit should be signed jointly by both husband and wife.

I know that for I-864 in some countries its states that spouse of co-sponsor would need to sign that affidavit. I-134 does not say this.

If anyone knows where this requirement (as posted in VJ I-134 requirements)

I-134 brief requirements

please let me know. My dads getting it notarized tomorrow.

Replies here or PMs are welcome.

Gwen

Ok.. after searching online and reading up on various posts/situations related to this subject, I've decided to have only my dad sign it. My last info I read was here for I-134 tips I-134 tips.

I couldn't wait to get to this point..now can't wait to get past it.. I can't wait to just get my husband home here with me and we can finally get our lives going together under the same roof in the same country.

On my dad's 2006 tax return he has my mom as a joint sponsor. However, my mom does not even work. He probably lists her to get some kinda tax break. Anyways, I only had my dad co-sponsor/sign/notarize the I-134 and I put my mom as partially dependent.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.
