Consulate in HCMC, Vietnam just changes from Standard to Appointment Post

Yesterday, I checked and HCM Consulate was still a Standard Post. Today, I check again and it has changed to Appointment Post!

What this means is there's a change in procedures while applying for the beneficiary's visa at NVC for CR-1/IR-1 cases. Instead of just submitting DS-230 Part I along with a photo of the passport bio page and 2x2 pictures like before for Standard Post, NVC nows want both Part I & II of DS-230, as well as original documents or certified copies of the following documents:

• Birth Certificate
• Court and Prison Records
• Deportation Documentation
• Marriage Certificate
• Marriage Termination Documentation
• Military Records
• Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page
• Police Certificate(s)

My case hasn't even reached NVC yet so I cannot verify. If this is true, then I need to tell my wife to send me all these required documents very soon. All these documents need to be done now instead of later when the case has completed in NVC and transferred to the consulate in HCMC. I already got her to send me a signed DS-230 Part I as I thought HCMC is still a Standard Post. My wife hasn't applied for anything else, except her passport so I can get ITIN and file tax as a married couple.

Is there any Vietnam VJ members doing CR-1 at the moment? We need to pull together and share information.

Thank you for the update, keep us posted. It's good to read up on the changes nowadays seem never ending in HCMC.
