I live in the states and trying to get approval for my fiance who lives in England. I know that my income is looked at but is his? We submitted our petition in January and it is killing us to be apart and we are thinking about him quitting his job and coming here for 3 months. Would that look bad for the visa process? We don't want to do anything that would harm and prohibit him getting approved but looking at how long people are having to wait is frustrating and we don't want to waste anymore time not being together. Our application has not been touched since January 8th and now it is the end of February and we are getting doubtful that this will go through anytime in the next few months.

They only looked at my income, not his. They want to know that you can support him and that he will not need government assistance. Good luck!

They only look at your financial status. One thing to keep in mind however, is for him to plan to come here for any length of time he may be challenged by border authorities to prove he still has ties back home. He may be in a better position if he can obtain a 3 month leave of absence from his job rather than just quitting it all together. He can then use that as evidence that he intends to return and is expected to return to the UK after the end of his 90 day visit.

good question i was under impression that foreign fiance income wasnt required?

Have you checked the guides at top of page?

secondly if he quits his job to come for three months wont he be giving up a good form of evidence of ties to uk so they let him in for trip? im only mentioning this cos i had this worry before and still do after seeing advice for visiting while aplying. theres quit a few forum topics on here about that you might be interested in.

Yeah a leave of absence would be better, my fiance did that when he came here, and had a letter with him saying that his job was expecting him back on a certain date to finish a project. That way if they questioned anything upon his arrival in the US, he had a letter to show that he had a reason that he had to go back. They did not question anything, but I think it is a good idea just in case.

I'm confused about a couple of things.

In your timeline you state your consulate as Armenia, yet you say your fiance lives in the UK. Which is it? Different consulates mean different things in the way the affidavit of support may be treated.

Regarding his income - it doesn't matter. People who are unemployed are granted visas everyday. From all consulates.

I also cannot tell how many times your fiance has been in the US recently. Once? Twice? The more often he attempts to enter, the more likely he is to be questioned at the border and possibly turned back. Better to cool your heels for a while until some more time has passed.
