Gosh! I'm away one afternoon and there are two more pages to read!!

Good morning all! I am going to call tonight an early one most likely as tomorrow have long day ahead as my friend and I head to Chicago to go see The Cure in concert! I am beyond excited since they been one of my fave bands since I was in the 8th grade haha. Not really that into all their newer stuff so sure hope they mix it up, but regardless a band I have always wanted to go see!

Sooo hoping to see tons of approvals pop up to surprise me in the morning! Good luck all!!!!

That's so great! I'd love to see them live too. Like you, i'm still stuck on the last albums, not the new ones.

Oh my gosh guys, the end of my journey is nearing....

I just cannot believe it......

Yet I am so nervous that something bad will happen at the interview.

(Sorry off topic, but I am a CSCer)

Everything should be fine if you have everything in order. For the "should I be with her for the interview?", ask yourself what is best in the long term aspect. of course, it would be help your fiance feel better, and you would be with her family one last time before she leaves them, but if you end up losing your job or if you don't get your degree at the university then it might not be the best option. On the opposite, I know that for some embassies it really helps if the US citizen is here. Only you can decide what you should do.

Rachel, the first time I read your comment about the teddybear, it didn't seem rude to me. I can understand how someone for whom that teddybear carries an important memory could find it rude though. But you couldn't know, it's not your fault.

Which thread? It might be fun to join the scrum

No scrum! I re-read what I said and it did come across as rude...I just wasn't thinking. Here. I feel really bad...

Sorry Rachel, I just had to reply on that just now.

:lol: As soon as I saw it was Rebbecajo I had to laugh, she loves mixing it up from time to time. You didn't say anything even remotely approaching rude, I think she was just looking to pick a fight. Now if she had gone into a long explaination about her husbands parent's death 25 years ago and how the innocuous articles she moved over had particular meaning to her and then you said something about heritage and comic books....welll....ok. But she brought all that stuff up after the fact, which pretty much indicates her mood today. I wouldn't irritate one brain cell over this one.

Hmm guess I'm the one who gets the fight now then lol... oh well, it can't bother me at all lol.

Gosh! I'm away one afternoon and there are two more pages to read!!

I started this thread on my birthday back in February when I was 30 days after filing and feeling that I was going nowhere fast. With approvals starting over on the VSC side I really felt alone and left out of the excitement. I never imagined that we'd hit the 100 page mark when this started, but when I look back over the last 2.5 months I really see the sense of community and support that makes this website worthwhile. Now this thing has a true life of its own and I'm just happy to contribute. If it wasn't for you fellow journeyers I don't know how I would have made it this far in one piece. What a great birthday present!

Ohh...that must be what I was thinking of. I just remembered seeing the question about "Do you receive any other support" or something like that...I always assumed it included child support.

Do you have a court order for child support? Maybe that would count as proof of it. (I'm just brainstorming here. :) )

Yeah its not taxable income but I do have the divorce decree and the support is direct deposited into my checking so maybe include bank statements too? Would be really good to have amounts outlined just to be on the safe side.

lol...I forgot who had asked the original question when I said check your regional! I can't remember...are you going to Vancouver or Montreal? I think your bank statements should be enough. It's crazy how picky the Canadian consulates are! I've seen people from other countries who say the officer barely looked at the financial documents.

Lol... Vancouver. Levi lives not far from Winnipeg. Are they pretty picky? Hadn't heard alot about that whole financial part.

:bonk: I knew that! I've heard that they want three years of IRS transcripts to prove income. However, they'll accept a letter from your employer if you've been there that long. Basically they want three years of financial records from the USC.

I wonder what you do if you had a joint return within those past three years????

I don't think they're going to care...I'm not really clear on why they want three years of tax history. What if you've only been working for the last one? As long as you have the proper paperwork to prove the divorce is final, you should be fine.

Aw! Very well said, Blake - I feel the same way. :) I really hope this month can end with your and other January filers' approvals.

Alex's dad has agreed to be a co-sponsor and Alex is sending me the affidavit of support next week. I've read in the UK forum that often the embassy schedules dates according to when you plan to leave the UK - so, for example, if I say I am leaving in December they may give me a later interview appointment than someone who is perhaps approved after me but planning to leave sooner. I think that's quite a sensible way of doing things myself, although I also sort of wish I could have an earlier interview so I'm then not having to worry about that.

Ya know, Rachel, being the older guy on this thread I have a certain perspective on "timing". I know you want to stay a bit longer to get things cleaned up at home before you come over, and that you want everything to be "right." I've learned however, there is no "right" or perfect time. There will always be bills to pay, things to set right, and work to do. What doesn't come back is the time that we could be with the ones we love but are not. I'd vote for you coming here as quickly as you can - the bills will still be paid, if a bit later, the work authorization will still take 3-4 months, but you'll be with Alex in August and not in December. Besides, all it does in the winter is rain in California anyway.

Thanks for doing this list, Blake. Helps to see just the January filers.

However, how come my sweetheart and I aren't on the list anymore (Myriam and Gary). I've seen us in there before :(

Probably because the guy who makes the list up is an idiot

I'll fix it for tomorrow's posting... sorry.

If you say so... ;) I don't think that's the case though. We're just all getting excited with those approvals happening and getting closer. Thanks for keeping the list, Blake :)

Could I get some info on the co-sponser thing? Just want all my bases covered.

Quite simply, if your income levels do not exceed the 125% of the poverty level (and you don't have a lot of assets) then you will need to get an individual who will also fill out an I-134 to sponsor your fiancee for the first three years. Usually it is parents or siblings that fill this role, but it can be from anyone. It happens more frequently than you might suppose, so there's no stigma attached at all. In effect, the sponsor stands alongside of you (you both have to complete the affidavits of support) in guaranteeing that your fiancee will not become an economic burden on the state.

And So It Begins......

I'm curious about this too. I'll be going to the Montreal embassy. Do you know if they want three years as well here?

Well, because I gave my two week notice, and because the sun is shining, and because I'm feeling particularly lazy this afternoon I'm heading out of the office a little early. Why not - the gardens are calling demanding my efforts be focused on them and I really don't feel like being here right now as well. I hope everyone has a great weekend, that a bunch more approvals come through in the mail, and that the following list is quickly made obsolete:

I think so, but I'm not sure. I wish I had more details...it doesn't say it's required in packet 3 (which I think is completely unfair! What if you aren't part of a community like VJ?) but I've heard of people being told to get it. Apparently it's easy to request a transcript from the IRS. Hopefully it is fast, too because I haven't requested mine yet!

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.
