Visa approved - Details inside

Well, today at 11:28, me and my fiancee were approved for a K1 visa.

It has taken 8 months from filing the I-129f to get approved.

The story of the interview:

Me and my fiancee arrived sharply at the Embassy at 8am (our interview being at 9am, but unfortunatly we arrived a bit early), and surprisingly, they let us into the 9am interview line, with their being a 8:30 and 8:00 interview line.

We waited for all the 8:30s to go through first, and then we went into the little hut at the front of the building. I had to take EVERYTHING out of my pockets and put it into this tray, except for my pound notes and receipts. They then put the tray through the machine to scan it, and me and my fiancee walked through the metal detector.

Oh P.S., you can take phones etc, but you have to leave them at the security hut until your interview is over. And although we didn't take any bags, we saw a lot of people that did and even took them in!

I gave over my cell phone and got a number to get it back later.

We then entered the U.S. Embassy and we went up to this desk through the doors, and we were asked what kind of visa we had come to be in

terviewed for, we answered "K1", and got issued the number 5013 which was printed onto 2 seperate stickers.

We then went left and up through another set of doors into the waiting room, there is a ton of chairs to your right, and the courier service to the left. There is 4 TVs on one side of the chairs (these TVs tell you which number is called to which counter), and on the other side of the TVs, is another 4 with more chairs, and a little snack bar behind the chairs.

The 5000 numbers were for Immigrant Visas, when we walked in they started with 5000. And Non-Immigrant visas are a different set of numbers (today they used 1000), and the difference between the two aside the type of visa and numbers, is that the Immigrant visa numbers get called in order, and the Non-Immigrant visas get called up randomly.

We waited approximately 1 hour before we were called for step 1 out of 2, we went up to counter number 1 where a little chinese lady who was friendly but hard to hear (when a ticket number is called to a counter, it is announced loudly over an intercom, as well as being shown on the TVs). She asked what kind of Visa we were here for, which we told her K1, and she then wanted me to give her 2 passport photos (believe it or not, she prefered the English Passport Size photos! Lucky I brought both sizes). And then she wanted me to place my left 4 fingers on the scanner, then my 4 right fingers, then my 2 thumbs.

She then asked for affidavit of support (I-134 for us and this visa), we have to use a co-sponsor, so we gave her 2 affidavits (one from the petitioner, the other from the co-sponsor). She ended up giving back the petitioners I-134 back and keeping the co-sponsors I-134).

Then she wanted my passport, which I gave her,and then she got out the big brown envelope containing my chest X-Ray, and all the medical interview documents were also in that envelope, so she got them out of the envelope and made me sign them.

She then gave me a yellow list which told me the sub-total of what I had to pay for the visa, she told me to go around the corner to counter number 12 (this would be the cashier counter), and I payed there with my Visa Debit Card.

I returned to counter 1 to the little lady and gave her the yellow list, and she then gave me a PINK piece of paper (Immigrant visas use pink pieces of paper, Non-Immigrant visas use blue pieces of paper) with the information on the SMS (Secure Mail Service). I had to fill out the back (my address, contact number etc) and was then told to sit back down and wait to be called again.

We waited another 30minutes possibly, and during that time the 5000 numbers that had been called before we had our step 1 out of 2 (5004-5007) were being called again for step 2 out of 2 (the actual interview), we waited until our number was finally called, to counter 16.

I was very nervous, body shaking and hands trembling, we approached the counter to a lady that looked like a mean principal type kind of person. I said "Hi, how are you?" with a smile, to which she replyed "Very well thank you" and she smiled too.

I didn't expect that from her.

She made me sign a form stating at the bottom that I would marry this person: -------- and then my signature for the form.

Because my fiancee came with me to the interview, the interviewer told her that she couldn't talk until the interview was over, which we had a little laugh at because she said it in a nice way.

She made me raise my right hand and swear that everything I was about to tell her was the truth and nothing but the truth, and I don't think you need to guess how I replyed to that to continue on with my interview :P

She then asked the following questions:

How did I meet my fiancee?

How long until we first met face to face?

How many times have you visited her?

How many times has she visited you?

When you met her online, what did you both have incommon?

How did you propose to her? (She wanted the full details on this one lol, which I was happy to tell her)

She then said clearly with a smile "Ok, well unless if there is any problem I encounter concerning your finger prints, I am happy to tell you that your visa has been approved. Congratulations, and don't forget to pay the courier before you leave"

She couldn't finish that sentance the first time, because she saw me smiling so big with my lips like wriggling from being so nervous and excited, so she made a joke about it and started over again.

We then lined up for the courier (it was a LONG line, but I could not stop hugging and smiling to my fiancee whilst we were lined up, which made it pass quicker)

We payed for deliver before 12 for a single applicant, which cost £19.50 (the earlier you order for your passport to be delivered, the more expensive it is)

We then walked out of the embassy, collected my phone, and then went out for a nice meal.

So now that my story about the interview is finished, I will explain what we brought, and the things with a big X at the end of them means they weren't needed for our interview (PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULDN'T BRING THESE DOCUMENTS, FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR INTERVIEW, BRING AS MUCH EVIDENCE AS POSSIBLE!)

A gigantic scrapbook of eachother (pictures etc) X

A ton of receipts from restauraunts to Xmas gifts X

Phone bills (texts and phone calls) X

Printed off emails X

Printed off chat logs X

NOA1, NOA2, NVC Approval notice, Interview date (for us only the interview date sent by the embassy in the mail was needed)

Police PHOCertificate (required for the interview, and it was needed, A PHOTOCOPY WAS REQUIRED!)

Birth Certificate (required for interview, and it was needed, A PHOTOCOPY WAS REQUIRED!)

I-134 from Sponsor (required for interview, but wasn't needed)

I-134 from Co-sponsor (required if you need a co-sponsor, and it was needed)

I-129F Photocopies X

DS-156, DS-157, DS-230 Part I and II, DS-156K (we made photocopies of all of these and brought them all, but none were needed at the interview)

Payslips from my work X

Bank statements X

Vaccination records X

Letter of intent to marry (old and new) X

Passport photos American size X

Passport photos English size (required for interview, and it was needed, YOU NEED 2 PHOTOS)

That is it for my post, I just want to say thank you visa journey, and I wish the best to all of you.
