Hi,

i was told by one of my friend that total time to become citizen is 18 months.

i was thinking it is 9-10 months. i am in shock :unsure:

From when you become eligible.

Might be quicker, might be longer.

YMMV

i thought it took even longer than that  i thought it took a few years...haha...

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

Sounds like she has 5 more years studying.

You can apply now as a PR.

Currently the estimated time for citizenship is way longer than it used to be and probably will get better in the future by the time you are eligible. 2007 had a huge increase in the fees to apply for things, therefore whoever could file by the deadline last july did it resulting in a gigantic amount of applications that clogged everything up. I think I also heard somewhere that since citizenship applications are the least urgent to process, they kinda were put at the bottom of the list to give priority to other types of things. It might and probably will get better as I said, but yes, be prepared in case it doesn't, even before 2007 there were always a few cases that took longer than "normal".BTW it appears that some district offices are already past the july backlog, as a matter of fact there are a few people on VJ who filed for citizenship in november and december 2007 who currently have an interview date, so it seems things are getting better already, at least in some places...(not Baltimore as you can see from my timeline in my signature).

Good luck when the time comes! :star:

i don't think people who are eligible in 2010-2011 should worry, cus USCIS raised fees to update the application process and make it more electronic and possibly online, so we 2007 filers are paying with our longer wait for your's guys fast processing,

but if you still intersted in 2007 - current pocessing varies from 6-7 months in Nebraska to 10-12 month in busy offices: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=112463
