NO2 Received! But some confusion...

Hello Everyone

I am very excited, as our NOA2 finally arrived yesterday!! (We are October filers). :D

However, I was hoping that someone could clear something up for me. We decided to go through the K1 process with a lawyer, who is incredibly unhelpful and for some reason refuses to answer any questions we have. I wish I had found this site before spending unnecessary $$.

We received this e-mail from our lawyer:

"We just received the approval for the first step of the process. I'll be sending you documents for the next step, which we can't file until we hear from the US State Department in about 30 days."

That is all it said.

Please could someone explain what is meant by this? I thought that our petition is sent to the NVC, then the embassy in the UK, where I will need to take all the remaining documents for my interview? What exactly needs to be filed after hearing from the US State Department?

I'd really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this-- I did ask our lawyer, but haven't had an answer.

Thank you!

Mia

The next part of the process "Hearing from State Department" Is a packet of forms and info sent out by the Embassy in London.

NVC and Embassy are State Department.
