We are also preparing all immunizations for my husband, BUT when he went to the Doctor in Mexico they would not give him a Varicella shot, they told him he was too old to get it. And that he should have received it as a child. So what do you do when the doctor will not give you one?

Thanks,

This is not a problem for K-Visa, the vaccinations are optional for the visa, only after entry to the USA will this need to be take care of. Visit a US Civil Surgeon, and it is their digression to either sign off on the vaccination supplement required for Adjustment of status, or the can test for immunity to the disease, or can vaccinate for it. Chicken-Pox for adults is Shingles, this is not a pleasant thing to get in adulthood.

Hi Angie,

Check out this webpage for a list of the required vaccinations (panel physician's page for Toronto):

http://panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

Since you don't like having injections and it sounds like you aren't sure whether you have immunity, it might be a good idea for you to go and have an antibody titre test. You just need to go to your local doctor and ask them to send you for the test - and let them know what you want to be tested for (MMR, TD, Chicken Pox). That way, if you do show immunity to them, you can just bring the test results with you to your panel physician medical and you won't require any vaccinations.

If you grew up in Canada you most probably had all of these vaccinations already.

I had the same problem, in Mexico the doctor asked me if I already had have varicela and I said YES, and he didn't put me the shot due to I have immunity by the "disease" but the mistake was that he didn't put that in my vaccination record. So, when I went to the imigration doctor he didn't believe me and he said that at least that I have scars like evidence of the disease he cannot believe it... And that the test will cost more than the vaccine so that it was better if I got the varicella vaccination.
