I'm sorry if this question has been asked many times....My fiance just sent his 2007 ITR for my interview and it's only the form 1040 and no W2 bcoz he is self employed. Is that ok??? I don't have his ITR for 2006 and besides its below the poverty line so i dont wanna show that. I just wanna show his latest 2007 ITR because it's above the poverty line.....Pls. help me if what we have is sufficient to prove that he can support me.We tried calling the IRS but no luck for tax transcript.

*Evidence of Financial Support:

Original Affidavit of Support - Signed and notarized

Copies of 2007 Income Tax Return form 1040

Simple IRS tax transcripts work fine in place of (1040/W2/1099) they are FREE.

i included in my packet for interview 1099 and tax return of 07 since i am self employed too. that should be fine too but transcripts replace the return and 1099.

I sent in the following:

- Tax permit / Business license

- IRS Schedule K1 (IRS Form 1065 / Form K1 , Partner's share report - it's sort of a a self-employed version of a W3. If you have Schedule C - send that.)

- Tax returns, 3 years. Personal returns + any business components (K1, Schedule C) are fine. 3 years proves you've been in business making money for the whole time.

- If you're in a partnership, write up an employment letter on company letterhead, and have one of the partners (NOT YOU) sign it. Send that.

- You can send a business return with your name on it, if you have that. It won't hurt - just as proof of ownership/employment.

Worked fine for me.

If you had time, I'd substitute a tax transcript but you at least need the full tax return including all schedules, not just the 1040 form. Do you have the full return?
