Okay, I'm getting nervous. Other people who had interviews later in the day have already gotten their visa days ago, and of course nothing is online in terms of tracking, which is normal, BUT ... my visa has not been charged for the xpresspost at all!

Is this normal? How long did the charge take to show up on your credit cards? Should I email the consulate this early, when they said 'this week', but other people have already gotten theirs?

I'm terrified there was some unknown problem with my card and it didn't go through (no reason that I can see) and thus my visa is moulding away in MTL because my xpresspost wasn't purchased properly and I am blithely waiting for something that will never come.

What should I do?

22/11/2006: NOA2 - APPROVED!

31/12/2006: 1 year anniversary

22/12/2006: Package received from Montreal

18/01/2007: Packet 3 delivered to Montreal Consulate

02/02/2007: Medical Exam in London, ON- Wonderful Doctor/Office

30/05/2007: Package 4 received from Montreal

05/07/2007: Interview date - Canceled by request, [promised a Dec date b/c was 6+mo in advance, note on file

Screwed up my interview date, given NOVEMBER, fixed, promised Dec or Jan

06/02/2008: Interview date, medical now expired! APPROVED!

23/01/2008: New Medical done, WHERE THE @#$%! IS IT, DID THE MAILMAN LOSE IT?! (It arrived 30 min after I left for MTL, 1 week overdue. KISS MY LEFT FOOT, AFTER IT'S BEEN WEDGED UP YOUR HINEY AND LOST IT'S STILETTO, CANADA POST!)

14/02/2008: VISA IN HAND!!

18/05/2008: POE - Harassed by ignorant and incompetent Customs Official who grilled me until I answered that the reason why I broke up w/ my Ex was not to date my USC but b/c he was "impotent from a porn addiction". He also insulted my husband's motives for talking to me, dismissed our 2 years together as "not enough to get married", and otherwise trotted out the Spanish Inquisition.

22/05/2008: Ceremony of cohabitation (Legally allowed to get bizz-ay!)

AOS/AP/EAD

02/07/2008: Filed for AOS/AP/EAD

14/07/2008: Received NOA1

09/09/2008: Transferred to CSC

29/09/2008: EAD arrives in mail w/out notice, AP following week

18/11/2008: Email notice letter has gone out, card ETA: 60 days

25/11/2008: GC arrives in mail! TWO YEARS OF RED-TAPE FREEDOM! WOOT!

I would email Montreal and tell them that the charge for your xpress post mailer hasn't shown up on your card so you are concerned etc

I know with my Visa card they usually post it about 2 days after the charge is made. (CIBC)

Definition of Irony Part 3:

The doorbell rings moments after you send an email to MTL asking why your card hasn't been charged for the xpresspost mailer yet, and does that mean your visa hasn't been sent.

It's the dude with your visa in hand. Oy.

I emailed MTL back saying I'd gotten it.

Yes - many places...especially somewhere smaller that doesn't have credit transactions often or aren't as sophisticated as Crappy tire ..haha :) won't post their credit transactions until they have some to lump together or only on a certain day.

Now that you have it in hand...maybe it will be freebie and they'll nvr charge ya :) Can only hope

Happy you got your visa in hand! Im going through the same thing. Had my interview last Friday and the guy said he'd do everything to have it mailed out that day... it's almost a week later and I've tried tracking my expresspost envelop on the CanadaPost website and it's not showing up :(

Ive emailed Montreal twice, no response... :angry:

My interview was on Wed, so a few days before yours, and I didn`t get mine until today. I`m guessing it may be mid-week next week before you get it.

My tracking didn`t show up at all and my credit card wasn`t charged either.

I know this is an old post, but I'm wondering if this is the trend??? Does the tracking ever show up on the xpresspost envelope?? Mine was already supposed to be mailed and it doesn't even register on the canadapost website. . .

Ours showed when it was received at the Montreal post office, then we got it before any further updates showed up. There's definitely a delay.

3/5/11 sent LOC paperwork

3/9/11 date of NOA

Thank you. I'm just worried because it's not even showing up as mailed :-(

Yeah, it will normally be scanned in when it's received at the post office, but not always. There usually will be no further updates until delivery is attempted, and since it's updated in the evening, you will probably have it before you see online that you should be getting it. It's kind of a silly system, and not particularly useful for anything except proof of delivery. It's not like the USPS where you can follow your package.

  • 7/7/08 -- I-129f sent
  • 7/9/08 -- I-129f received at CSC
  • 7/24/08 -- NOA1 (finally!)
  • 12/2/08 -- NOA2 (WOOT!!!!)
  • 12/8/08 -- received at NVC
  • 12/22/08 -- packet 3 (with packet 4 attachment instead of checklist :P)
  • 12/29/08 -- packet 3 sent back with bits and pieces that I pulled together to make up a packet 3
  • 1/5/09 -- actual packet 3 received, but found out by via e-mail that they were satisfied with what I had already provided
  • 2/10/09 -- found out via call to DoS that my interview is scheduled!
  • 3/16/09 -- interview!!!! APROVED!!!
  • 4/7/09 -- MOVE!!!!!!!!
    Crossed at Detroit/Windsor Tunnel... pretty painless, about 45 minutes, inexperienced officer, asked for and received EA stamp
  • 4/13/09 -- Married in New Orleans!!!!!!!!
  • 5/30/09 -- Filed AOS/AP/EAD
  • 6/1/09 -- AOS etc received in Chicago

I don't know why I'm surprised, but this time it was the consulate's fault (again.)

My case has been a nightmare otherwise too, but the visa was finally (more than 16 months after his interview) issued last Wednesday, but they did not mail it until today, a full week later. They told me in email that it was because of a "staff shortage" and "the holiday."

It showed up on the canada post web site tonight as "processed at 7:28pm."

2011 May 5 - Biometrics (letter rec'd via snail mail April 15)

2011 May 9 - Placed in line for interview scheduling

2011 June 13 - Rec'd yellow letter (no change in status online)

2011 June 23 - Rec'd text that my case has been scheduled for interview

2011 August 1 - Interview (rec'd via snail mail June 27) PASSED

2011 August 3 - Rec'd email that my case has been scheduled for Oath

2011 September 1 - Oath ceremony (rec'd snail mail Aug 5)

2011 September 1 - All done, yeah.
