I believe that it's faster for you if you do the DCF *direct consular filing*, if that's available in London.

We did DFC in Copenhagen, they had walk in's every Friday, got the I-130 approved the same day and an interview date in the mail 2 days after, the interview was about 1 month later *it got pushed back 14days though, but the original interview date was about 1 month after*. That saved us a lot of time... instead of doing it through the Service Center in the US.

:) I hope it's the same procedure in the UK.

Hi Nigel,

We had a tough week last week. Cmltdg was denied after soooooooooo many weeks of waiting. We are all feeling bad for her right now.

We never hear from Bostongirl so I might take her off the list? Any thought anyone? Just me and Beetee waiting right now. We haven't got any new people wanting on our list.

Hope things are going great for you. Paul should be back this week sometime. He's on his honeymoon right now.

i just checked some previous posts and it appears that the official date of Wendybob's approval was March 22. He received a letter on the 25 and email confirmation on the 31st... so I am not sure which you would use in that chart. I said March 3rd for us because that is when we received it but the letter was drafted on Feb. 28th. I say we were denied on March 3rd because that day is forever burned in my memory.

Vicky

I wonder who that person was that never came back.. did she ever post much?

You know, to me it would be more logical to put them in order of submission date.. but it's up to you.if they are in order of submission date, then when the approval or denial is out of sequence that will make it more noticable. Helps to call attention to the fact that these things certainly are not processed in any sort of logical order.

Have their not been any more recent submissions in London or are they just not finding their way to us?

I hope Tiff has been able to begin to form a new plan.. whatever would be in her best interest in the long run. I know how hard it is to think straight after this happens.

I still do not quite see the light at the end of the tunnel... way too much stuff in the way. Don't ever live in one house for 30 years!!!! I cannot believe the stuff I am finding and having to sort. Its so much more difficult than I expected.. and I expected it to be very difficult. I honestly don't know when I can be ready to get back to the UK. My visa is good from July 11th until January 11th. Before it expires we have to be married and have applied for limited leave to remain.. or maybe I have to have already been granted that. I am not sure. The clock is ticking. Back in June when I was first filling out the forms I thought July 11th was the earliest date I could go. By the time I sent them in I was thinking the 20th.. and Tom scheduled this whole week off. So now, once again (like when he was home with that broken toe), he is home alone and I can't be there. Some days I am tempted to just give away ALL my belongings and just leave. As it is I have taken far less than what some of it is worth. I practically gave away my grandmothers antique desk.. the one I had wanted since I was a little girl :(

BTW, it takes alot longer to marry in the UK. Not so long to get the visa but way too long to be allowed to marry. We have to register at some office after I have been there 7 days (not allowed to do it before). Then we have to wait at least 15 more days. If he had come here we would have been at city hall the next day for the marriage license and married three days later. Or, we could have just run down to Ohio ( I am 20 minutes from the border) and married that very day!

I personally think its best to marry as soon as possible for legal reasons. Can always have another wedding later if you like wedding (we don't... lol). The person doing the immigrating is in an extremely vulnerable position before the marriage having given up everything back home yet not having any legal rights to their partners property. I had planned to put Tom on the house deed or make a will before he even got here.

I suppose alot of the young couples on VJ don't think about such things... but I am old!

Well I tried to clean it up again. I went by submit date Mary. That seems fine to me.

I hope things start working out for you Mary. I'm not a saver so I wouldn't have much to go through. Hopefully in the next few weeks you will start seeing some progress. I know you want to get back to Tom as soon as possible but don't give in and start giving things away. I'm sure you would regret it after some time. Just do baby steps and soon I'm sure you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm OLD too so I get where your coming from. I hate to even think about what will happen if we get denied. The way london is going there seems to be a good chance of that happening. All I can do is hope for the best. I don't know what we will do if that happens. I can't see any way that I could move over there.

Hang in there woman. It has to get easier for you soon. You have already been through so much, your due for some good luck

the chart looks good Vicky.. the format anyway.. the denials are so cruel and unfair especially given the time frame. If they are going to deny it needs to be done quickly so people can get on with their lives. If we had known sooner I would have been back in the states in February instead of May and could have really used the cooler weather to my advantage. Its very difficult for me to accomplish anything on days when its 89 degrees in the house. No a/c. Also I have been told I would be getting a better price for my things if it was winter. In the summer I have all the garage sales to compete with... and I don't have a garage so I don't even get to garage sale the smaller things. Those are the things that places like goodwill have been getting.

btw.. its not just me being a saver.. I raised three kids in this house.. I have managed to get them to get most of their stuff out but my one son left half his belongings here when he moved to new orleans a few years ago. also my ex still has loads of stuff here and I am having a terrible time getting him to remove it. even for me to remove it and trash it still adds immensely to my workload here. I do admit to having been a packrat.. I honestly never expected to move out of this house.... ever. If I had known then what I know now, I would never have requested this house in the divorce. At the time I still had my two dogs though and I didnt want them or me to be homeless. Now I just wish I had gotten money. I would be free to go and I would have been forced to downsize sooner. This house is 2000 square feet with another 1000 for the basement. Full of 30 years worth of stuff.

I am sure it is tough Mary. 30 years in one house raising 3 kids. There is no doubt in my mind you have a very difficult time. Not to mention the amount of things you have accumulated over the years but going through every little piece and the memories that go along with them. I've actually moved a few times and the house that I have now doesn't have much storrage space so I can't really keep much. I've been counting my chickens before they hatch and trying to make some room for my fiance's things. It won't be long until I'm stuffing things under the bed.

If i was a little closer Mary, I would be happy to help you. I'm not sure how much work vs talking we would do but I'm sure it would be a lot more fun than you doing it by yourself. Besides I would be stopping every 3 minutes to ask you if it's a keeper or what. :P Once you get through the bulk of it maybe it will go faster than you think.

I'm worried about Tiff too. I hope she can get through this ok. I never know what to say when something like this happens. I'm not very good with words but i hope she knows how we all feel for her. Would do anything to take the pain away and make everything ok for her. Maybe after some time she can figure out what she is going to do and work through things. I'm sure she needs time to get over the sock and hurt of it all. I just really wish her the best.

Well I need to go for tonight.

See ya soon,

Vicky

Hey, all. Just popping in to say I'm okay. The reasons for denial? Well, they don't believe I have enough hardship. It's interesting the way they picked out little pieces of my letter here and there and sort of twisted it around until it seemed like nothing. That, and they are not convinced of Caspian's rehabilitation. Seems it hasn't been long enough, as if that's the only deciding factor! Oh, well. We've cried a lot over these last few days, but are now at peace. I know everything is working out the exact way it's supposed to. It's certainly not the end of the world like I first thought. I just wanted to thank you all for your thoughts and support. I hope and pray better things for you, Vicky and Beetee! I'll check back periodically hoping to finally hear an approval.

I have to agree with Mary on this, though, almost to the point of lodging a complaint with them, that if you're going to receive a denial, you should be notified quickly, or at least as quickly as the approvals! It's just cruel and unfair to have to wait so long for a bad result when this all is soooo difficult.

Anyways, good luck, Mary on your packing! No fun at all, huh?

Hi Tiff,

Glad to here from you. We were all very worried but knew you needed some time. Happy to hear your at peace with things. I'm sure you guys will work though whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for saying you guys will check on me and beetee every once in a while. I'm sure as the weeks go by we will be ranting and raving. Not to mention the nail biting and worrying. I think it's going to be quite a while before I hear something but beetee's should be coming up in the next few weeks.

Check in often and let us know how things are going.

Hi Nigel,

Great to hear from you!

Now as I remember you are already married aren't you? Have you applied for the whole AOS thing yet?? I had a few problems with getting my SSN at first (I think I was speaking to the wrong lady at the office, she didn't seem to have a clue!), but thankfully I spoke to another charming lady a few weeks later, and she cleared the whole thing up and now I have my SSN.

Yesterday I just submitted my AOS package (it was so good to get that out of the way!), and so now comes the long wait, although I have been hearing about some people that have been going via the CSC that have been approved without an interview in under 3 months!!! that's real fast....

You may actually get some better advice if you post any questions in the AOS forum??? Not that people wouldn't try and help you here, but there maybe someone in a similar situation in that forum?

Just a quick message to Vicky, Beetee, Mary and of course Tiff (have you decided and what to do next?)........ I'm still thinking about you guys, here's a link to some of my wedding day pics:

you all take care
