*sorry if you already read this post, I posted it in the wrong forum originally...*

Hello!

So, the NVC sent our accepted application to London England, and they sent the package to my fiance with instructions for what to do now.

I had heard that after you request an interview, it usually takes 4-6 weeks for the embassy to schedule an actual date.

Unfortunately, we did not realize the information we needed to gather, and my fiance just requested his criminal background check. They told him that it could take up to 40 days for him to get it back. Also, I'm still gathering the information for the I-134 that I need to send him, and his physical is on Thursday.

In order for them to schedule an interview, my fiance needs to send them a checklist saying that he has all the necessary information. Should he send back the checklist while we are in the process of gathering the information, and waiting for things to arrive so that a interview can be scheduled, or is it best to wait until he has everything in his hands?

Does anyone know how long it usually takes after you send back the package for them to schedule an interview?

Thanks for your help! I really appreciate it :)

The interview is normally 4 - 6 weeks after you return packet 3 checklist.

If you send in the checklist before you have all the information and they schedule the interview it would really depend on what is missing.

If it is just the police certificate, others have gone for the interview without it, they conduct the interview but say the visa will be issued when they receive the certificate and if there is no problem with it. The odd few people who have done that have all had clear police certificates no one has said on here they have done that if they had convictions recorded against them.

If it is a document contains more substantial information, as an example the evidence of financial support I don't recall anyone going without something as important as that. If you did my guess is they would not do the interview but issue a notice requiring further information.

If he is just waiting for the police certificate it is probably safe to send the checklist back 14 - 21 days before the 40 day period ends. Anything else I guess he should wait until at least you have put it in the post to him, or to be really safe until he has it.

I believe that is roughly what I said in answer to your original post.
